Communism is when you.. Wait okay let me start over. If someone else is doing something and.. Hold on. So you know how theres capitalism and then there's.... Please don't do a communism.
It means any place where total oligarchy is resisted in any way whatsoever.
It sounds like a stupid comment to rally the hogs, but in reality these types of things are a mask-off moment.
“We hate it when people attempt to better their lives because it threatens our wealth”
EDIT: I mean yes, it’s all those other things too. America’s Mayor would, be definition, have to be a dumbass bootlicking yes man who swindles for votes AND also be a fascist culture-warring capital defender.
I really just wonder how easy it would be, psychologically, to start a Red-Blooded for Jesus organization, rake in profits under a non-profit tag, then "have to close because of the economy" and retire.
Depends on which tier of republican you're referring to. People like Trump and Giuliani are defective in the sense that they'll happily lie through their teeth for personal gain without that pesky conscience getting in the way.
The voting base is defective in that they have no critical thinking skills to see through these obvious lies.
Different priorities. If your goal is to see your stock portfolio go up and ignore everything else, voting republican makes sense because that’s their goal too.
Look at California. You can't have more earthquakes than California. You want to figure out why?"
I think they're called fault lines. This is on the level of "tides go in, tides go out, you can't explain that!" Followed by an "are you fucking kidding?" face
There was a Republican politician that said something along the lines that God was punishing states because they allowed gays. And then his state got hammered in the ass by another storm.
He didn't walk back his statement.
These people just want to blame everything bad on their enemies.
It's a cult thing. You believe ridiculous shit that wouldn't fool a child as a way of proving your faith. The more ridiculous, the more faithful you are.
If these dudes are going full clown mode, then the media should stop reporting on them. There's no value in anything they say. These aren't alternative viewpoints, this is just babbling in an attempt to be relevant.
Definitely less. I hardly ever see anything about him now. I do have filters in place to block anything about him, but stories still slipped through all the time in the past. Nowadays it's rare for something about him to slip through. My wife has no filters in place and she also commented that she's glad she doesn't see shit about him every day any more.
That is still one of the most surreal moments to come out of that whole mess.
I just don't understand how it was allowed to play out. At some point, someone had to decide that going ahead with it was more important than waiting a day and finding a suitable location.
For the life of me I can't remember what the press conference was about, only the screw up.
Extreme ego and narcissism allowed that to happen. It was a simple mistake in booking that they refused to own up to because that would be admitting mistake which is something fascist leaders are completely unable to cope with
Well by this logic, hurricanes and tornadoes must be targeting republican states. What's the message being sent there? 🤔
At least you can somewhat design and build architecture against earthquakes...
I’ve noticed that people from tornado states are most afraid of earthquakes. Makes me think they believe that an earthquake is scarier than a tornado. The amount of fear I see suggests that tornado’s must be terrifying to live through.
I agree, but I guess it has to do with their relative unpredictability (as far as I understand). Hurricanes you can prepare for days in advance. And at least tornado's you can 'see them coming' to the point where if you're unlucky you might lose your house, but not your life. Not sure how the numbers back that up (or if they can even be compared), but emotionally that feels like the answer.
Tornadoes don't really affect large areas like earthquakes do. It might wipe out a neighborhood, but that's usually about it. Very few people actually die from them.
Republicans are supremely confident in the stupidity of their audience. Giuliani is a terrible no-good person, but I seriously doubt he's this dumb himself.
I love how this dried up old dipshit had it made in the shade after 911 but these maga dumbasses can't let their little glue sniffing brains feel like the spotlight isn't on them anymore. The world will be a better place once this idiot is behind bars or dead...or both.
New York, with Manhattan being a city that's basically the epicenter of American capitalism, where the world's most important stock exchange is, and that he himself was the mayor of.
For a while I thought I was in the onion community and couldn't understand why many comments didn't catch that. And then I scrolled up and saw nottheonion.
I grew up in the tri-state when this guy was mayor and I just remember him being called Gestapo Guiliani. NY appeared cleaner, especially on 42nd and Times Square, but he always seemed to be a shit person despite the handjobs he’s received from the public.
We were in the communist state of New York and then we were in Connecticut and we just escaped all the earthquakes then we got to Massachusetts which probably had some earthquakes and we got to New Hampshire
B/c he knows that he does not mean it, and his base knows that he does not mean it, but it still manages to communicate something regardless - "they bad".
Humanity today is genetically identical to those in ancient Greece, and many of us have spent less time schooling ourselves about how to e.g. avoid frauds than many of them did back then. ergo, "argument by authority" still works for us, as perhaps it did for them back then as well.
Your presupposition seems to be that humanity should somehow get better over time? At least it seems to relate to a common humanist theme, but if we want to get better, it is going to require effort on our part to make that happen. (apparently, having access to the entire repository of human knowledge at our fingertips is not sufficient, for those who cannot be bothered to learn from it - either by reading or just sitting passively as videos with pwetty graphics do all the work of spelling it all out for us, yet still that is less fun & engaging to people who would rather watch shiny motor vehicles with ads on them drive round & round in circles)
If there still needs permission or something to ignore whatever comes out of Giuliani's mouth, here, we grant it. Newsweek et al., you have our permission to no longer burden us with his ravings.
Republicans think liberal and communist are the same thing. They also think communist and fascist are the same thing. But of course Giuliani is a highly educated professional who knows better. He’s just cynical, and rotten to the core.
Ah yes, New York and California… home of the biggest capitalist economies in the world are communist. New York home of Wall Street and California, the home of Silicon Valley and Hollywood are somehow communist.
