  • The first rule of Christianity is, "I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

There is no probation against killing in general in Christianity, only murder, which makes an appearance as the 5th commandment. Murder being unlawful and/or unjustified killing, so clearly wartime killing is a-okay in Christianity.

Now, you could argue that "love thy neighbor as thyself" might implicitly forbid killing, but if you start looking to Christianity for morality or even simple consistency you're going to have a bad time.

  • Must Be Fun
  • It's about respect for the reader or listener. Using correct language eases the burden of deciphering what you are trying to say by using consistent forms. Otherwise it take extra effort for them to unscramble your words and figure out your meaning.

And yes, of course someone can figure out that when you say "me and Mike" you almost certainly mean to say "Mike and I". But you're making it harder for them by not bothering to learn or use the correct form.

  • I kind of don't like this. People are not worth more or less. We should be just as outraged at shooting a homeless immigrant on their way to an appointment for a sex date with a Grindr hookup as with your hypothetical father of 3 on the way home from work.

  • Haha okay that explains it. The UK counts as Europe about as much as Turkey or Russia does... which is to say yes you're on the same continental plate, but beyond that...

Anyway, your government has been aggressively underfunding the NHS for ages. It's hardly a surprise if it's shit.

  • Where do you live? That's certainly not my experience in the Netherlands. Of course we have expensive health care because our center right government believed in privatizing everything, but it's still way better than the US. Source: born American, currently Dutch.

  • Density saves nature
  • This is true. In Holland we have laws and regulations about this. My wife's job is enforcing this, although most of the work is designing places to minimize problems (don't build homes right next to highways, or under flight paths, or next to industry), as well as dealing with cafe owners who let their customers talk in front of the bars smoking at 02:00. 😄
