Does anyone else think the NYPD photos of the UHC CEO shooting suspect don’t match?
Maybe I’m just face-blind or being dense but the photos from the scene of the crime look like a different dude than the ginning hostel check in guy. The jackets and backpacks are different. Although people can have multiple jackets and backpacks. We don’t see much of the shooters face but the eyebrows look different. Although, people can pluck/shave eyebrows. I guess the happy hostel guy would have come forward and been like “WTF?” and “I have an alibi” if it wasn’t him?

I sure as fuck wouldn't. I know enough not to come anywhere near the police if they're scrutinizing me for any reason, even if I know 100% I'm innocent and I can prove it. You absolutely cannot trust them not to just arrest you and railroad you into a bullshit conviction anyway, or plant some evidence, or decide "he had a knife" and just outright kill you. You know how they say "anything you say can be used against you?" That's because they absolutely won't use it to help you, even if you're not guilty of anything.
I am positive city hall is breathing down the NYPD's neck real hard right now. The entire department has got a lot of egg on its face for not being able to stop this guy, not being able to positively identify this guy, hell, not even know with any certainty where he went afterwards. They are under immense pressure to hang somebody -- anybody -- over this because they're looking even more like chumps than usual.
So no, a wise man would not expose himself to the cops in any way whatsoever.
And if the cops do ask and want to pursue questioning you .... you don't talk to the cops in this situation and just ask for a lawyer ... they ask what your name is - lawyer ... what is your date of birth - lawyer ... where are you from? lawyer ... lawyer, lawyer, lawyer
Never talk to the cops, especially when the cops are desperately looking for a suspect.
You are correct. I’ve been watching a lot of true crime on YouTube lately and regardless whether someone is guilty or innocent, it seems it is ALWAYS in your best interest to get lawyered up and keep quiet if the cops are interrogating you.
I have mixed feelings about the guilty assholes, because it’s frustrating seeing someone give up their rights and be so open about their crimes but on the other hand, I’m glad they’re so dumb so they can be removed from society and punished.
But it is nothing but frustration seeing innocent people go through that out of genuine sincerity. “I have nothing to hide, so I’ll be open with the cops.” Fucking do not. No matter how low the statistic actually is, there is too much at stake to risk encountering someone who twists your words and uses it against you to frame you so they can close a case.
Lawyer up and shut up. Don’t talk to cops as much as you can help it. Especially don’t volunteer to have your name cleared.
Especially just murdering you. Lot harder to get a corpse to testify that they didn't do it. Makes it a LOT easier to say "well, they did it, but they're dead now, case closed."
Backpack & jacket type AND color are all different. The other dude even has his hood from a hoodie beneath the jacket while the first one has his hood from his jacket. Facially also completely different. I guess the NYPD has reached Reddit doxxing levels now.
The killer seems pretty competent, having multiple jackets and backpacks and switching things up to make it harder to track him doesn't seem unreasonable.
Having two dudes wearing similar stuff also doesn’t sound unreasonable. It’s really inconclusive and could do a shit ton of harm to an innocent person if the police got this wrong.
I mean, surely you'd bring clothes that look a bit different, though...? As far as I'm able to tell, the only notable similarity between the two is that the clothes look superficially similar...
And what proof do you have of the killer doing that? The only reason they posted the other dude is because he has a vaguely similar outfit style (backpack + hood, which is incredibly common among younger people, especially during this type of weather). If I were the killer I'd not switch into similar clothes, but something completely different.
I was curious when I was hearing the police chatter saying the suspect was wearing a "cream-coloured" jacket, when in the assassination footage it's pretty undeniably black or a dark colour at least.
I heard that he's an ethereal being from another dimension that has already faded away from our plane of existence so the police is wasting its time looking for him and should close the case.
The fabric looks different too. Like the shooter’s jacket seems to have a texture like gore-tex and the hostel guy’s jacket seems more like a cotton-poly weave. It’s hard to know for sure with the low quality images, but the colors look really different (and neither is anything close to cream)
The pockets are alone to give away that Hostel guy is wearing a "field jacket" cotton blend while Agent 47 is wearing a ECWCS cold/wet weather top. He could have two jackets and all that but they're different jackets.
Never underestimate how actively worthless "eyewitness" testimony is.
I was not aware of this detail. But if it were just bystanders telling stuff to cops before they got a hold of the footage, they are going to go with it. Especially since it is already pretty worthless to begin with (so many jackets are easily reversed).
Yeah, these are obviously different. All kinds of visible differences. Pockets, color of bag, strap sizes, no string on hood, lapel looks different, one looks more like a hoodie with a jacket, the other looks like a jacket with a hood... Just doesn't match very well at all.
That doesn’t mean it’s not the same person. It means they have more jackets and bags. If I was going to murder someone I too might bring extras so I can get changed afterwards.
To be clear I hope they don’t catch this guy, but I’m just being real.
I'd do two bags in two separate locations with different changes of clothes in each. whichever bag I went would depend on what the circumstances afterwards were.
I mean, typically I’d agree with you, but there’s a small chance that this is smarter than a lot of people are initially thinking (but still fucked up none the less) … maybe someone at NYPD found a video / picture of a dude that they know was not the dude. Maybe they have evidence that the guy in this picture in the green jacket is 100% innocent. Maybe they arrest him, his lawyer gets him out and they all of a sudden have no leads at all. Cold case.
"Hi we're CNN. We don't really have reporters. We regurgitate random shit we find on social media. Liberal, conservative... Suck my dick we're CNN and we're always just fucking there butching reality so you stay angry and we stay relevant. Fuck you."
Also, can't stop thinking about that episode of The Newsroom with Boston marathon bombing. 10 years since it aired and this shit is only getting worse.
I don’t think lighting makes a light grey backpack into black. That’s a bit of a stretch. Especially considering the jacket on the left have no chest pockets. The one on the right has massive pocket flaps like they are the main character.
It's more than incompetent. It's that they can't get caught. That there is a way to execute and not be held accountable. If that knowledge hits the masses it's a public relations nightmare.
That’s what I think as well. The assassin hopped on a bike and pedaled off to Central Park.
Personally I think he had a different clothes going into the city. Changed in CP, Stole a bike, then biked to the hotel did the deed. Biked back to CP ditched the clothes and bike and left the city.
These all look like different people with photos from different places at different times of the day. Probably their AI matched them and the coppers just had a quick glance, then put them on this panel.
Honestly, I doubt the person who shot him would actually be mad at being caught. He might've started a movement.
I really dislike the hero worship going on. For all we know, that particular dude might be a paid hitman.
He's not getting caught. The whole thing was obviously planned well. Never mind the professional technique and all that gun stuff, no, just consider the fact that he knew where and when to do it. How the hell did he track down the whereabouts of some relatively unknown CEO on a public street? That shows that the attack was carefully planned and of course any good plan includes an escape.
I really dislike the hero worship going on. For all we know, that particular dude might be a paid hitman.
Yeah, but death of the author and all that.
Maybe the guy was hired by the victim's wife because she thought he was cheating on her or something, and the casings and whatnot are just a misdirection... but if desperate people with nothing left to lose and a lot to avenge get inspired by it and start shooting (or just harassing) CEOs, it doesn't matter what the original reason was.
For now, American health insurance company CEOs seem to be afraid enough to remove their personal details from public sites, probably more because they see the reactions to the murder than because of the murder itself... so that's something, at least.
Given the political situation in the USA I very much doubt anything positive will come from politicians and the corporate class learning the sheer extent to which these CEOs and their corporations and their practices are despised by the general population (if anything, they'll attempt to tighten the yoke, which will just further radicalise people)... but revolutions have started for less.
For all we know, that particular dude might be a paid hitman.
It doesn't matter what he is, who he is, or what he believes. He could be a nazi from the US taliban who thinks healthcare is the devils work and wants to kill every healthcare CEO for spreading hell on earth, or any other crazy shit. People would shrug and still say he did the right thing. They hate him as a person, but the action of killing a CEO itself could galvanize people to start attacking millionaires, billionaires, wallstreet people, bankers, CEOs, etc.
The assassin looks like he is wearing a black windbreaker style jacket and the other guy looks like he is wearing a cream colored dickies jean jacket with the grey hood like you get from walmart
The nose I can go either way on. It looks "different" to me but wearing a mask and not grinning makes a huge difference there (it is why you are told to not smile for ID photos). The eyebrows are more a function of angle and resolution as you can see some darkness on the left (and he is obviously scowling and not flirting with a cute desk girl).
As for the jacket and backpack? Too lazy to look up the backpack models (people figured it out) but the one on the left looks small enough to fit in the one on the right. So he has his backpack for travel and then a smaller one full of gun and snacks and whatever else for the stakeout.
I guess the happy hostel guy would have come forward and been like “WTF?” and “I have an alibi” if it wasn’t him?
Never talk to the cops without a lawyer and NEVER voluntarily talk to them.
Also? The cops are going to find SOMEONE in the next week or so. And you can be damned sure they are going to take advantage of all of the news and social media about how this is a skilled hitman fighting for the loss of a loved one who WILL NOT BE TAKEN ALIVE. They'll corner whoever they can pin it on, shoot them a few times, and then plant a gun and call it a day.
It's the smart thing to do and pretty basic evasion tactic that I know I learned from a kids book about spies when I was a kid.
My guess is, he road the ebike to Central Park (known fact), ran into a restroom to quick change, probably did something to modify his appearance then continued off blending into the crowd, probably leaving the city on public transit to further anonymise himself.
Another tactic mentioned in that same kids spy book was to put something distracting like a bandage on your face so it's harder for witnesses to remember your face, they'll just remember there was a big bandage on the cheek or whatever. I've never heard of people actually using that tactic so I do have to wonder if there's a pitfall there that's not immediately obvious
The two on the right are the same guy, just look at the waffle looking thing on the right, it's the same jacket, mask, etc. the left and the right are definitely not the same jacket or backpack. The left jacket doesn't look like it has breast pockets at all.
The first back pack is white. The second one is very dark white almost black. The first jacket has white buttons, the second jacket has dark white buttons almost black. The first jacket has buttons, the second one looks like a special kind of button where the buttons on one side intermesh with the buttons on the otherwise in a zigzag pattern... I bet those have a name like zigzaper or zigper, who knows.
Could be green. I'll ask Pete when he comes out of hiding from under the bed. I assume Prez Trump will be pardoning Pete. When he does pardon Pete, he's going to everyone's darling. I can't talk for all Americans, but definitely, all #1's will love Trump personally. With enough love, anything is possible. I mean lube. 1 in, 1 out, 1 in again, that little hook at the top of the 1 really does beg for lube...anyway what was the question? I hope I answered correctly.
They will find someone that roughly fits the description and he won't make it to jail alive... Case closed nothing to see here... Or something entirely different may happen..
Guys planning a quick and carefully planned get away, so most likely traveling light with only what he needs. But yeah, of course he'll bring two bags.
I keep seeing the backpack as not matching, I don’t get how these are considered the same person, unless is going to be the next blue-black white-gold thing.
Yeah, the jacket is very different as well if you look at the front chest area. While people do say maybe he just changed his clothes, the problem is if he also changed his backpack, he couldn't have just put the clothes in the backpack, meaning he would've had to have left them somewhere and there would've been a trail that probably would've been found by now. It doesn't really add up for them to be the same person.
Unless he put the clothes in the backpack and put all of that into the other backpack, Backpackception! It sounds really silly though, like he purposely changed his clothes ever so slightly, just enough that a few people would call it out, instead of changing into a completely different outfit, which would've been more effective IMO. It's just alot of work for little benefit, people come up with the weirdest theories.
I saw a comment on another site where someone said the NYPD confirmed that the “ person of interest” is not the suspected shooter, but no one could produce a link confirming that assertion. The news anchors are all phrasing it like he’s the suspected shooter, which is fucked. Some ding dong in the PD’s gonna shoot a dude that they need for questioning (if they manage to find him when the whole city saw nothing)
If they are the same person they may have two jackets that are very similar but slightly different and two different backpacks. Someone on top of opsec or paranoid having lots of easily changeable looks would make sense. Although ideally you would want different colored jackets. It could also be that the camera quality isn't good enough for the details in the jacket to show up and they only have two backpacks. It does really look like the two pictures on the right could be someone different with a similar jacket to the two pictures on the left though.
Smiling guy is a patsy they'll try to hang for this to help other CEOs sleep peacefully on their second yachts at night after a long day of forcing 5 day a week return to office mandates for overworked employees with "leadership" emails sent remotely from Saint-Tropez.
Weird thing is, neither of these photos has the guy... they already know the man responsible for this and many other deaths, his name was Brian Thompson.
Not only do I agree, but also it has been my feeling that the Starbucks footage and visit was a performance of some kind, and the water and phone they found were a distraction. Dude seems to have otherwise thought this through pretty well.
I admit that's nothing more than a hunch though, and I can't really defend it against anyone who disagrees.
Accounting for that, the hostel guy seems to have a rucksack or similar. They're quite distinct and notable bags. If it's not actually a rucksack, it's something with similar design elements, maybe a knockoff, since rucksacks tend to be rather expensive.
Rucksacks are popular with people who hike/move around a lot, the kind of people who would stop at a hostel for a night before moving on to another area/location/city/country, usually by non-typical means (hiking, walking, hitch hiking, etc).
That's just the personality type for one such person who would use such a combination of products, and by no means should describe, or imply a description, of the individual illustrated in the image. My entire point to saying any of this is that it's a very district design.
The shooter has a very simple backpack that lacks most of the notable features that I can see from the backpack/rucksack that the hostel person is using.
They're both backpacks, but one is notably different than the other.
While it's feasible they just switched backpacks, IMO it's far more likely that they're simply different people.
To me, this kind of naming and shaming attitude of a person of interest in an ongoing investigation by the press is disgusting.
If the images here depict two different people as I suspect they do, then the individual in the hostel images is likely to suffer consequences as a result of the brash and hasty release of their images by the press. It will likely affect them for years to come.
It makes for enticing headlines, that's for sure, but it's abysmal journalism. They don't seem to have any standards left regarding the truth, only whatever will attract the most views/clicks/reads/whatever.
It's kinda crazy because I own the backpack he had on during the incident, it's a peak design camera bag and it's pretty expensive. Definitely not the bag the dude at the hostel is wearing.
Yeah the shooter had something more like a rain jacket. But he may have put on the rain jacket that he wasn't wearing earlier when going out to shoot the guy. Backpack is different, but that may have been stashed in the park.
But what seems odd to me is that this whole thing was obviously premeditated, but a guy that's intent on murder is smiling and chatting up the receptionist? I guess that's possible, but something that further suggests that it's a different dude.
We really only have the top half of the faces looking somewhat similar in a couple of grainy images. It's plausible it's the same guy, but given the information we have, it's more likely not. But we don't have all the information, so who knows?
I thought I saw that these pictures were taken on different days and the guy on the right has been tagged as a "person of interest" and not officially a "suspect"
The police said he’s a person of interest. All the news reports are calling him the shooter. I saw a clip from Good Morning America and they didn’t even bother saying “alleged”. It seems crazy irresponsible.
That is actually insanely irresponsible journalism, if you can even call it that. INSANE. American news sources are just a wild west of "information", isn't it.
Someone needs to paint some eyes in the pocket flaps and post it as a meme on the police website to just rub it in how fucking off they are on something so obvious.
I wouldn't be surprised if a significant portion of the NYPD cares just as little about finding this guy as the rest of us care about them finding him.
"Yes yes, we take it very seriously. Look, he was wearing a hoodie!"
Im very faceblind, but hes more broad shouldered in the right pics that Im not seeing in the left pics. Also, whats going on with that cheekbone in top right pic and why dont you see it in any other pics?
I thought the same thing. They have more video footage and we are seeing only 2 stills from it, but the coats are definitely different. But the hostel footage was from when he was checking in days earlier than the day of the shooting.
When people have different jackets and backpacks it not just to have the same jacket in different color. It’s to have a heavier jacket or different sized backpacks.
Also hostel guy eye look more wide set and his brow is more pronounced. Bridge of nose looks wider and deeper too.
i used to lived next to an organized crime person.
they would fuck with me constantly because i have a problem of keeping my mouth shut because i do.
and when they left on vacation they would use their underlings to fuck with my life. some horrible shit would happen to me. and then a few days later they would return smiling and smirking asking how i was doing.
the following is my opinion: trump hired that killer (probably someone with a beef against insurance) through some underling with the promise of a big payoff, left the country to France, and the killer was supposed to be paid off after the kill but was left with monopoly money because trump never pays his debts. And now the killer is dead and in the Hudson never to be found in one piece.
now trump will use the killing to push a hardcore agenda of police and constant surveillance to make sure it won't happen again.
and the rich will pay him to make sure that it doesn't.
but it will happen again. and trump will leave the country right before it does.
what's his end goal with implementing a hard-core surveillance state though?
and while we're at it, why make it more transparent to the public when what they already do works great for them?
your conspiracy doesn't add up and leaves more questions than answers.
honesty, your comment reminds me of my father years ago. he lost his mind listening to all the right wing propaganda years before "maga" was a thing. he died before Trump took office the first time. I imagine he would have been crazy enough to take drastic measures.
get help, seriously. no disrespect, no hurt feelings. your logic is flawed and you may be going through a difficult time.
That's possible. It's a crazy world. There was a school shooting in California because a man was convinced he worked for a secret government agency responsible for executing children.
