I finally did it: ruined a dish with too much garlic

So I put 4 cloves in a small batch of salsa. I did roast them with a butane torch and thought that would make the flavor a little milder, nope.

  • Islamic culture just can't compare to the advanced West. They try so hard to compete with our violence and cruelty, but they just don't have the technology to compete. I mean they'd have to do eleven nine elevens every day for 10 thousand years just to equal the senseless violence of a single WWI battle.

I have faith that Muslim immigrants will be capable of matching the West for barbarity and bloodthirstiness within a few generations if they try hard to integrate into Western Civilization.

    Useful idiot

Conservatives joke that progressives just blow with the wind from one controversy to the next. But I can't help but notice the anti-Biden "left" shifted hard from Genocide Joe to Bad debate Performance without skipping a beat or looking back.

Almost like the people stoking these fires don't really care about left issues at all.

GameStop investor retracts suit accusing Roaring Kitty of pump-and-dump scheme
  • To me, all this stonks nonsense is just investors with a new scam trying to supplant the investors running the old scam.

Anyway it's a good thing in that it exposes the grade-school explanation that the "stock market is a meritocracy where the best businesses/ products rise to the top" as total bullshit.

An alien looking at the stock market would assume that Tesla makes the best cars; MacDonald's the best food; and Microsoft the best software.

  • Is there a chat/dating app that isn't complete shit and pay wall restricted?
  • A better question is can a dating app be good?

Around 2010, every tech bro that's creaming shorts over AI today was trying to figure out how to make money behind the fact that everyone had smartphones. But it turned out, that smartphones can't solve every problem.

Dating I would argue, is just one of those things tech made worse. Never mind how often the damn thing fails, think about the conditions where it would function well. A dystopian world where everything is shallow and operating on incel-math.

And how could it be otherwise? Dating apps are just math people trying to solve for love. This is the plot to a comedy movie, not a business plan.

Who is a character you feel is overhated and despised too much ?
  • Thanos' reasoning is idiotic.

People are a resource. If you eliminated half the people, not only have you wasted all resources that went into those people, but you've wasted everything those people could produce. Minus half of agricultural workers would probably mean way less than half production. The post-snap world would be a place of austerity and starvation. You could recover sure, but it'd be time for another snap.

  • S-500 is kill
  • Sure, but in the 90s intercepting a ballistic missile was a new capability. The tech must be more mature now. Besides, the way Russian procurement works, prototypes are usually light years ahead of what eventually gets produced and issued.

  • r/NuclearPower is taken over by a hostile mod
  • have such strong nuclear opinions but don’t seem to actually know anything about it…

I would point out that doubt is the appropriate response when one doesn't have all the facts. You're not asking people to trust science, you're asking people to trust in the institutions that were certain people around Chernobyl and Fukushima were totally safe and trust us bro.

I think you could make a great argument that faith in governments, regulators, and industry to protect public health is the irrational position.

I'm pro nuke, but you shouldn't dismiss those who fear nuclear tech as irrational and stupid.

  • ACLU suspects warrantless surveillance in neo-Nazi’s prosecution
  • This is an odd test case. Not only is the defendant unsympathetic, the circumstances seem to be exactly what section 702 was intended for.

Whatever information was obtained through FISA (if it was), wasn't used as evidence against this guy. So they can't even prove that the Nazi was subject to a FISA search, much less that it harmed him.
