It's crazy to see "price of eggs!" as a talking point appear on every major broadcaster a month before the election as the defacto rubric for economic strength. Then trillions invested in Western based AI gets obliterated within a week of the new administration taking office.

Many Americans stupidly ignore politics, but still pay a lot of attention to the prices of common goods like milk, eggs, bread, gasoline, etc. Folks are living hand to mouth because the billionaires hoard all the money.

So when there's a shortage or prices go up, people don't have something to replace it with so it's more apparent that they're missing out on something and that gets attention.

Because the people who voted for him think it's a good thing that he's cancelling those things. They want him to dismantle "big government" because they've been mislead into believing that the reason they're struggling financially is somehow because of wasteful government spending.
You can't attack Trump by criticising him for things people want him to do.
But the reason most of those people voted for him is because they are struggling financially, regardless of what the actual reasons are. They want him to come in and take a wrecking ball to the government in the belief that it will somehow make their lives better. I don't see how it's a bad thing to drive home, repeatedly, that they are wrong. That all of Trump's promises will amount to nothing, and that their financial struggles are only going to get worse under him. Because if you want his supporters to abandon him, you have to appeal to their sense of self-preservation. You have to remind them, over and over, that he's not making life better for them.

Recalling from memory, Elizabeth Warren once put forward a suggestion to require that 40% of a company's board be voted in by employees. It's very possible that with a less corrupt, profit-seeking corporate landscape we wouldn't be in this situation. So even more than Kamala she may have credit to blame others for such things.

So this is the absolute batshit insane part of the Kamala/Harris campaign. If you looked through their published policy platform, yes they had plans to try and regulate corporate price gouging. However, they did not campaign on these plans, did not elaborate on those plans whenever the economy was brought up, and largely tried to deflect when asked about their plans by claiming the American economy is strong and had no issues.
Kamala had plans. Somebody told her to keep her mouth shut, probably because it would scare off the donors they were trying to court.
The reason Kamala lost is because nobody in the Democratic National Committee thought to say "We will raise your wages and break up the monopolies raising prices at the grocery store and the pump"
Because the main DNC campaign donors are Billionaires and Lobbies, and well, see, that would eat into corporate profits. Whatever new pandemic (or maybe USdemic only, as other countries still do vaccines) hits, there is a good chance it will hit those producing food the hardest - they are at the bottom of the chain, they have to work every day to pick and process food or it may go bad, and they cannot do this from the safety of the home office. Besides, the last pandemic has already shown that some employers consider protective measures as a waste of money. And if the new USdemic really is a bird flu variant (apart from the H5N1 there is now another strain H5N9), it is quite likely that it starts its foothold in the farming communities as a bonus.
So food production is not unlikely to get hit hardest, which might actually completely wreck the "less demand" part.
