No let's not. People will start off mildly, but as the popularity of the sub rises, you will get chumps chopping down trees to make the perfect stick.
Then you get the lathe guys muddying the rules of the competition, and then the sub becomes either a pinewood derby stick contest (with permitted parts), or a how-to-make-a-batting-club bonanza.
It's a good stick. Not as good as the one I saw on the Internet recently that had a nearly perfect guard and hilt like a sword, but still pretty awesome.
For the people that want to ban sticks here: please don't take away my joy!
I'd say it's a 6. Nice and straight with very little taper. Those little branch nubbins would make it suck to hold at the end, and the bark needs to be stripped off across the entire thing. I'd take a belt sander to it and clean it up some
What's that, about 3/4" at the top? Seems sturdy, reliable. It could use some decorating, maybe a feather or rounded-off handle. Nice and straight too, not too rigid but not too curved up... I'd give this stick a 7.2 out of a maximum possible score of 10.
Everyone is over rating this, low to mid 7/10 is accurate. It's a very nice stick but far from a 10/10. I guess there is personal preference, but there's a real 10/10 out there for everyone that I hope you guys get to experience one day. I had a solid 9/10 stick that I used hiking for years.
i was gonna say 6 at the first pic, but the second pic makes me think it's an 8! nice taper, nice size, i like how the little nubs add visual interest.
Its very straight. And knotty. I imagine its very strong! Very good. I give it a 9/10. I wonder what a perfect stick looks like, maybe this is it, but I'm not confident enough to give it a 10.
It's hard to judge a stick without feeling it's heft but from looks alone I give it a 6 maybe. Above average for shape and length but the bark quality (aesthetically) and the lumps really take from its value.
At another glance I can tell this stick was recently living and probably quite solid as such. I'll raise it to 7/10
Its very long and massive therefore too big for whooping ass as it would put too much strain on wrist. Troy's Nana would whoop you for even showing her such a switch.
Visually it is exceptional, but I fear it is too dry and thin to make an effective walking stick or tool handle. Maybe for smaller hand tools like a screwdriver.
I'd give it a 7. Pretty straight, but no good handles to use it as a gun or cross guard to use it as a sword. It'd work as a lightsaber though. But the thickness and heft is nice.
It feels good to see my hunch rating of 8 is right on par with the consensus here.
For me it's got great shape and is a good size, the uncanny straightness of it is really cool, but serves to limit it's potential ceiling for ratings. It can't specialize in anything to push it to the top of the ratings.
