This is the most incredibly selfish thing I could possibly imagine. An old man moping about his inability to cling to power for another minute. As the next generations look on, begging for someone to act.
He paints Trump as a villain (rightfully so) but is so pathetic that he is unable to rise to any heroism. At least go out swinging.
Don't know what I expected. But it is a slap in the fucking face to hear this.
Both shams when we know that the DNC picks their favorite from day one and works with the media to form their narrative. 90% of voters are just looking to be told who to vote for.
Look no further than Kamala. Right up until 21 July, when Biden was facing calls to resign by rank and file Dems every day, we were getting puff piece after puff piece that "Biden still polls better than Kamala Harris," "Biden is still the best possible candidate." Well, Biden eventually caved and literally overnight Harris became not only the real best chance, but actually was looking really good. Nothing about her changed. None of her policies changed overnight. The only thing that changed was that she was now the status quo choice and therefore "safe" for the MSM to endorse.
Here in California, we haven't had a presidential democratic primary since 2016, and he wasn't running then. Please explain how he won, when the DNC cancelled the 2020 primary before we even got to vote, and never had a 2024 primary?
Somehow he's not near the top of my list of people to feel sorry for.
Biden has been absolutely consistent about is this belief that he believes that had he stayed in the race, he would have defeated Donald Trump again
And this is one reason why. He was dead weight that held back Harris (or someone more capable that might have emerged if there had been a competitive primary).
The best part of his presidency was letting Warren and Bernie do their own things for Labor and Consumers. It makes me wonder if Harris just had no ideas or if Biden (or his staff) was constantly knee capping her.
And I'll never stop feeling angry that he didn't decide to step down after one term. The difference is that I'm going to live long enough to see the consequences of that decision.
Why don't you save the country instead of being a moody bitch? It's entirely possible to do the wrong things for all the right reasons, and still be correct
I hope by the time the next election comes around, assuming we will ever have another election, that we endorse a new party and completely abandon the democratic party in favor of something like a labor party. Maybe, just maybe, we have seen the Democrats vs. Republicans for the last time.
This country had different parties before, we can have different parties again.
I’m more aligned with Sanders than the democrats. D just feels like neoliberalism protected by identity politics when we need to focus on class issues. Lots of working people can get behind the same idea of wealth inequality. Identity politics has fragmented the focus. I don’t give a shit about Target/rando corp having rainbow clothes: when lots of people cannot afford the clothes, then that’s a problem to solve.
The problem is that there are people who really fucking care about those rainbow clothes. And those people don't think a subset of our population should exist. That's why it's something to give a fuck about.
You don't have to be gay to give a shit about these things. They're talking about ending marriage equality (or "leave it up to the states" which I'm sure won't lead to chaos when states decide not to acknowledge people's marriage certificates).
He's just pissy he didn't get his own chance to fucking lose. Because in his heart, Biden also thinks the problem with Kamala is that she was a black woman. He sees no problem with his policies, his stance on Israel, his willingness to play nice and coy with Republicans, or his impending death. He seriously thinks that only he could "save" America, and that he could have won. All this, despite all the constituents of his party cheering when he stepped down and flooded his replacement with donations and praise.
I'll say it again, rest in piss Brandon. People will compare you to Chamberlain or Brüning, and it will be a disservice to both those men. Your ego caused you to utterly fail your country, and we will remember you as a failure.
Dems told him he should not run for a second term, and he ignored them and did it anyway.
During his 2020 campaign he fucking said he only wanted to serve one term, that he wanted to act as a bridge president. Then he proceeded to do absolutely nothing to put Harris in front of the country, absolutely nothing to set her up for an ezpz “incumbent” primary, and cock blocked the entire fucking country until the last minute.
I don’t know if he lied to our faces, changed his mind, or just forgot but fuck him regardless.
Edit - His only fucking job was to win in 2020, then unchain the AG or whoever to bring cases against every single person who used the Constitution as a cum rag as fast as realistically possible. He failed. He won the election in 2020, then just didn’t finish the fucking job. Fucking pathetic joke of an out of touch old.
During his 2020 campaign he fucking said he only wanted to serve one term,
Can you actually find him saying this, or is it only people on background who wouldn't allow their name to be printed next to the statement that said this and people's brains morphed it into an official campaign promise because they wanted it to be the truth so badly?
He should have announced he was going to be a 1 term president a year prior and gave a chance to find a better Democrat candidate. He's senile and hardly able to run the country. No one over 70 should be president. No one over 70 should be in any office or judicial position. Our country shouldn't be ran by the nearly dead. Even 8f some of them like Sanders are great.
He announced he was going to be a one term president when he was running for that first term. (I know a campaign promise isn't an announcement, but it was supposed to be common knowledge before he changed his mind.)
The reality is his personal mental acumen is very, very irrelevant if he's surrounded himself with trusted advisors who are competent. That being said, you can't show up to a debate and look like you're 200 years old and have no idea what planet you're on.
The US's only chance at starting to get better will have to have a leader and not a puppet. Being surrounded with politicians in your trust will keep things running, but just keep pumping out more of the same shit we have had.
He fumbled his chance by historical margins when everybody was already scrutinizing his capabilities. There was no recovering from the debate. His legacy will be refusing to accept reality and bringing about an era that my generation may never recover from.
And one thing, importantly, that President Biden has been absolutely consistent about is this belief that he believes that had he stayed in the race, he would have defeated Donald Trump again. Now, all of this adds up to, I would say, a mood of sadness and sort of this sense of tragedy here at the White House,” concluded Lee. “Those around him believing and actually hoping that when history judges President Biden years from now, that it will be a little bit more forgiving than how the president is being widely judged, at least today, Jake. ”
Emphasis mine. The level of hubris is genuinely jaw-dropping.
Fuck this guy. Shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Now, to a large extent because of his decisions, we all have to suffer through the rule of the dumbest, most bigoted and greedy assholes ever.
I think the anger needs to be focused on the Democratic party leaders and apparatus for being elitist in their thinking ignoring the constituency and losing the blue collar vote. They have increasingly catered to the college educated with predictable results.
They have increasingly catered to the college educated with predictable results.
Hogwash. They have catered to the dwindling number of alleged moderate Republicans. There is no reason that you cannot appeal to both the college educated and those without a degree.
Agreed, with the caveat that we don't need anger. Anger is fine, of course, but we need a sense of purpose. The realization that the DNC is a force for corporate greed, that we cannot support it or expect it to save us, and the determination to go in a different direction.
He should be feeling angry he's going to be remembered for helping Israel commit genocide, refusing to step aside and let the younger generation lead, and enabling fascism, but his hubris won't allow for that.
Trump already removed sanctions on some particularly violent West Bank settlers, the IDF launched a major operation in Jenin, and a group of Israeli settlers rampaged through several Palestinian villages in the West Bank, torching homes and businesses and vandalizing vehicles.
What does this say about Biden's faith in Harris? I always kind of doubted that he actually wanted Harris, and suspected Harris was kind of foisted upon him. If he really believed in her as a person and/or politician, why would he be sitting here pouting and saying that he should've run instead? The whole camaraderie between them always felt kinda shallow and forced, and this really sends that feeling for me.
Gonna be honest, considering how much of a Zionist Biden is, I wouldn't be surprised if he's just a racist and a sexist as well. He might seriously think the problem is that she was a black woman, and that he could have won because he's a white male.
It's hard to be absolutely sure, but I think the chances of him winning were very, very slim.
I know his internal numbers were supposedly very bad, but it's also hard to say how that stacks up with the fact that Kamala is also POC and a woman and we know that is definitely still a factor, unfortunately.
My guess - and without actually holding an election, that's all it can be - is that his results would have been worse than Kamala's.
Joe Biden's internal polling reportedly showed that Donald Trump was on track to win 400 electoral votes in a head-to-head matchup according to one of the pod save america bros
Yeah I think the Democrats would have lost no matter who they ran IMO. I think Trump won the second that assassin missed and he did the fist pump in front of the American flag. That's exactly the sort of shit people eat up.
And it's funny that Biden's all pissy about it because I think he actually did play it the best way he could to benefit himself personally - by dropping out he wins no matter what. If Harris had won, he'd have looked heroic for stepping aside and 'putting country before himself' or whatever, and now that she lost, he can just say "well I would have won if I'd stayed" which you can't really prove definitively one way or the other.
I think Trump won the second that assassin missed and he did the fist pump in front of the American flag. That's exactly the sort of shit people eat up.
Part of why I never fully believed that that wasn't staged.
I think Trump won the second that assassin missed and he did the fist pump in front of the American flag. That’s exactly the sort of shit people eat up.
And the Beast arose from an attack that should have been lethal, more powerful than before.
I love Joe Biden, always have. It seems that he lost a great deal of cognitive function over the last 8 years, and this fact was hidden from everyone outside of his circle, could have been his decision, but again loss of cognition means it also could not have been. The fact that Merritt Garland was sandbagged by Republicans which ended his nomination for Supreme Court Justice at the end of Obamas term, made him an excellent nominee for Attorney General and head of The Department of Justice, but the way he was slow rolling the prosecutions for Trump, when they should have been layups, and the way Garland couldn't adjust and overcome the Trump lawyer onslaught of tactics to delay, doomed Bidens chances at a second term, and American democracy itself. Joe as President was responsible to oversee Garland, and they both dropped the ball in bringing Trump to justice, but the buck stops with Joe. If there's anything at all to be angry about, it's Joe should have protected us from Trump returning, and he failed spectacularly, and now it's all over.
Garland was a republican and a compromise supreme court pick. The hope was republicans would hedge their bets and confirm him. Getting a guaranteed pick they liked in place of a possible Trump pick.
After Trump won Democrats should have dropped Garland like a ton of bricks. Instead they did what they usually do and went all on one their failed compromises position after Republicans failed to compromise.
The fact that Merritt Garland was sandbagged by Republicans which ended his nomination for Supreme Court Justice at the end of Obamas term, made him an excellent nominee for Attorney General
Why? To "own" the Republicans? Spite is hardly a qualification.
No, a coward and ineffectual, in which he shares a great deal with Republicans, but Merritt Garland is a lifelong Democrat. There is so much blame to go around, but some secret Republican infiltrating the Department of Justice, convincing first Justice Brennan, then Carter, Clinton, Obama then Biden his lifelong juris for Democratic causes whilst scheming to "one day throw it all away for Donald Trump" is ridiculous. I mean, bay at the moon if you want to, there's plenty to bay about, but Garland is a Republican is what a child would say, which coincidentally is also a Republican hallmark.
I remember thinking in high school that it was very genuine of the VP to congratulate Obama with a "This is a big fucking deal." Amazing how time ravaged him since that day.
Piece of shit found out that what the party can grant him, they can take away. Unfortunately for all of us, the party acted too late in ousting his decrepit genocide-loving ass.
Yes, the situation in Pallestine is terrible. Yes, it seems like Biden enabled it.
The thing is, there's so much more at stake here. Did you see the part people are doing Nazi Salutes now? Or any of the executive orders signed in the last 24 hours?
I can only agree. The Democrats are just as bound to the funding of the billionaires as the Republicans, they just have to hide it better in order to have a chance to win something.
The Roman Empire fell slowly, and now it's our turn. I only hope that true socialism can emerge from the ashes.
Trump is signaling the go ahead to dick down the West Bank like they’ve already done in Gaza by removing sanctions against the most violent Israeli settlers, sanctions that were enacted by Biden. So idk who the epic moron here is.
