I’m not interested unless I see “First transmitted via telegraph by the US Government, 1883.” in the about section of the game store.

Me and my RuneScape account are plenty offended, thank you

Growing horns by farting on citizens in Fable
20 0 ReplyDon't forget to find one of those citizens that are temporarily immortal to punch and kick their shit for maximum physical experience. I loved doing that on that first city, after finishing the quest where the dude convinces you to change your hair and beard "for his daughter".

Does dwarf fortress count as a modern game or a 20 year old game?
19 0 ReplyYes.
15 0 ReplyBoth and a game 20 years from the future when Toady finally finishes it.
9 0 ReplyNah we're going to transfer his consciousness into a robit so he can keep working forever

Similarly, I play a game called Clan Lord that came out in the 90s, but still gets updated regularly.
2 0 ReplyI guess you could technically play one of the older versions

I fail to see the issue
15 0 ReplyExactly, why is that a ... negative?

I would say this is all about Skyrim, but I do think that game still is very popular today
13 0 ReplyMy top two games played this year are over 10 years old each.
My 3rd most played is Baldur's Gate 3, weighing in at 250 hours, so I've got that going for me.
12 0 ReplyMine were 7 and 14, respectively, and then I had Diablo 4, so I understand.
4 0 ReplyI'm still not sure how much I like BG3, but I have sunk 90h into it at this point, so it can't be that bad.
My game of the year for 2023 was probably the Q2 remaster, overall.

Steam sales, yo!
11 0 Reply*while ignoring any real-life counterpart of any of those. (except goals, kinda, since your goal at the moment is doing those things in that game).
10 0 ReplyThe real-life mission system is totally broken. I've accomplished tons of goals and the rewards usually don't even trigger, at all.
13 0 ReplyPlus the classes are ridiculously unbalanced! "Billionaire" and "loud religious idiot" need to be nerfed yesterday! Don't even get me started on how game breaking playing a hybrid of those is!

My goal is to ignore irl goals for in-game ones 😤

Gran Turismo 4 is 20 years old..
10 0 ReplyAnd DOOM hit 25 this year.
Edit: I'm stupid at math, it's actually 30 lol
5 1 ReplyHalf Life is 25; I've been slowly working my way through the anniversary edition
5 0 ReplyIt turned 30 this December! So much rip & tear !
4 0 ReplyYou think Doom came out in 1998?

Why does it matter how old the game is?
10 1 ReplyI started playing Project Zomboid this year. Its about a decade old but they're still adding features.
9 0 ReplyThis is me saving other civilians in This War of Mine since I can't save anyone in a real war zone.
8 0 Replyidk loads of war zones going on, you could probably give it a shot.
3 0 ReplyLast person I saw try ended up going into a suspicious looking hole in the earth in his skivvies.

And I'm just over here constructing additional pylons.
8 0 ReplyAhh that sweet sweet dopamine. If you don’t have any handy, gamebought is fine.
7 0 ReplyThere's only a few games I played before release, RimWorld and Stone Shard.
Currently I'm playing Beneath a Steel Sky from 1994, and Fallout 4 is next.
And I will celebrate with you each time you recover the Amulet of Yendor
6 0 Replyidk I still think 100%ing donkey kong 64 is still one of the greatest accomplishments humanity has won
6 0 ReplyProject zomboid is a game released aprox 11 years ago and is still in early access does this count still waiting on the devs to release build 42
6 0 ReplyOblivion is my fave Elder Scrolls game
5 0 Replyi tried getting into it but as a skybaby it is tough. either takes forever to kill an enemy or i breeze through everything
2 0 ReplyI just like how goofy it is lmao

Haha how weird and quirky! A game from 2013? No one's ever played those before! You must be so special and unique! But not as special and unique as me, playing games from the 80s! Oh wait. There's nothing special and unique about any of this.
16 12 ReplyOof. You made a conscious decision to be like this.
22 1 ReplyI am totally going to borrow this reply, though usually it's not true; the choice to be cruel and bitter typically a subconscious need to lash out.
5 0 ReplyEncouraging people to be themselves and not determine their worth based on the age of the games they play? Yes. People are more than this. It's sad as hell to put yourself down just because the game is old.

Let people enjoy things smh
14 1 ReplyBut I AM! Enjoy things! Just don't expect to be called special because you do.

I find it curious to see people having this sort of insecurity (in some cases, some sort of aversion) with playing older games, while they don't have it with other media, like books or music.
9 2 ReplyExactly! You never see someone saying "haha, watching a 50 year old film, oh crazy me!" when watching Star Wars.

2 0 ReplyI started Conan exiles with a buddy recently, it's pretty dope, actually, it's like an ark survival evolved but an order of magnitude less shitty (with a few caveats).
Edit: nvm I looked it up and it's from 2018, feels a lot older, it's really fun tho
2 0 ReplyI'm just catching up on here before I go back to my Sims 3 game.. 😂
2 0 ReplyImagine how much cooler you'd be if the game were newer.
3 1 ReplyNah. Older games are often less fancy, so gameplay and execution need to carry. Time culls the mediocre, leaving only the memorable behind.
