For all the people that insist that both sides are exactly the same - ask yourself why it is that people that are overtly racist, anti-semitic (not anti-Israel; those aren't the same thing), homophobic, christian nationalist, etc. all vote Republican.
This is a logical fallacy. Just because all voters of one party fullfill certain criteria, does not mean that the voters of the other party don't fulfill it.
As it stands the US people, as a whole, are almost exclusively in support of parties involved in committing genocide. And until Biden stepped down the attacks you got for insisting that someone like him is unsuitable for any political office, were insane. Biden is someone who describes himself as a staunch supporter of a genocidal ideology (Zionism) and a state perpetuating genocide and ethnic cleansing since 70 years, while sending these people all arms and inetelligence to do so.
Pointing out that genocide can never be acceptable to be voted for, unless you are yourself a supporter of genocide, got immediately attacked with "well that means you support the other genocide guy, our genocide guy is better".
The US as a nation is a moral, political and societal disaster that needs to be fundamentally reformed. US liberalism as it stands is just a different flavor of fascism with some LGBT rights sprinkled in (albeit there is no guarantee they wouldnt happily sacrifice these, if it meant political gains) and the plea to not have the brutal oppressive violence be committed in their field of view.
You are conflating lack of effective choice with active support.
In an effectively two party race, where both arguably are supporting a position (through action if not through ideology) there is no option where you aren't effectively contributing to said position.
Vote either way or not at all , you are contributing to the overall success of one party or the other.
"Our genocide guy is better" is really the only option when there is no other practical choice.
Even voting independent just supports whoever happens to be winning from the two main parties.
What are you proposing is the practical option for people who don't want to be "in support of parties involved in committing genocide"?
To be clear i have no good answer to this either, just wondering if you do.
ask yourself why it is that people that are overtly racist, anti-semitic (not anti-Israel; those aren’t the same thing), homophobic, christian nationalist, etc. all vote Republican.
There's no shortage of racism among Democrats, particularly at the voter level. California has a super-abundance of liberal voters, despite being awash in police violence and the epicenter of some of the cruelest forms of slum clearance. NYC municipal and state leadership have demonstrated an unfathomable appetite for cruelty towards their communities of color and of LGBTQ.
To say this is a purely Republican problem, you have to ignore everyone in the party from Joe Manchin to Lori Lightfoot to Biden himself.
He didn't write the line, but somebody did and it's very powerful. I hope they got paid a lot for it, and I hope it lands.
Leftist-infighting aside, governance does actually matter, and you utter infuriating arseholes are still my brothers in this. I hope we find a way through, and I know a single individual won't be responsible for it if we do.
Online politics are such a complete waste of time. I’d lose all respect for anyone in real life that spends half their day bullshitting about politics online. That’s how you can tell they have no life.
I'm sorry but a guy supporting the Zionist ethno-Fascists who are way more racists and murderous than the Ku Klux Klan to the point of targeting Palestinian children with snipers, has no moral high-ground to use the Ku Klux Klan as example of horrible racist people because he himself is way much worse: his moral "high-ground" is the mountain of blood children's remains with an Israeli flag on top that he helped build with weapon shipments and diplomatic cover for the Zionist Genocide.
This fucking Nazi-loving disgusting hypocrite sociopath should shut up and let Kamala do her thing.
Just as much a sociopath as Biden, probably more - Biden's love for Fascism and Fascist violence is indirect, whilst Putin's is very much direct: Putin is doing the deed himself whilst Biden is "only" giving weapons and support to those doing the deed.
Damn, you really swallowed the Israelian propaganda pill didn't you?
"we care about palestinians more than palestinians themselves"
Do you even hear yourself? How on Earth can you think any person doesn't value their own life? Let alone a whole group of them with the only thing in common that they live in a certain area.
And the Palestinians aren't the ones who make sure they are starving to death, getting dehydrated with no access to medicine, and they aren't blowing up their own buildings.
I hope every single zionist to be treated the way they treat Palestinians.
Don't absolve humanity of its crimes by trying to pretend nazis weren't humans. Humans are capable of monstrous evil, of which nazis are one of far too many examples. Another example is the sort of person who would defend a genocidal apartheid regime as caring about its victims.
He's not doing genocide, depending on your viewpoint he might not be doing enough to stop it up to abetting genocide but he's not Netanyahu. Stick to the facts and don't pretend Israel doesn't have agency.
This is one of our resident MAGA propagandists, so they will not be doing anything of the sort. It's questionable if they are even able to do anything of the sort.
Whataboutism is when my biases are revealed and I have no strong arguments.
"Please post about this issue in a different thread so I can conveniently ignore it. I might even down downvote it so it doesn't get any traction, but don't ever bring this topic up when we're circlejerking our beloved president who's funding a genocide"
Showing how weak your arguments are against funding a genocide is not the flex you think it is.
And what outcome do you have from voting that isn't genocide? You either have implicitly helping genocide through weapons or explicitly helping by backing Israel no matter what and getting US troops involved. And not voting is just helping the latter side. It sucks and we definitely need to protest more and apply pressure how we can but there aren't really that many choices for us through voting.
This the is the USA brother. Genocide is our game. We gotta get the right people in charge to change that. And Trump is definitely not anti genocide.
If you just want me to say fuck Joe Biden then sure I'm not married to the man. I wish he had more balls to take these public stances earlier than right before an election.
