No, see, if they get to shift the focus away from the patriarchy (or other systems of oppression they just happen to benefit from, be it Christian white supremacy, cis heteronormativity, abled supremacy), they don't have to consider and possibly unlearn their own views and behaviours..
When someone insists on "no war but the class war" they often mean "no war impacts me other than the class war, so that's the only war I'm interested in fighting".
Surely at least back when women couldn't vote and were expected to always obey their father/husband, there was patriarchy. Also ultra rich vs the rest, but also patriarchy.
The Bible explicitly states that women are beneath and subservient to men. Christianity is the dominant religion (at least in America). Politicians face controversy when they aren't openly Christian. They are guided by their Christian morals when making decisions that impact millions of people. Every single president in American history has been a man. Women couldn't vote until recently, and more recently lost bodily autonomy. Each and every one of these realities produces male supremacy over women. Patriarchy is very real, and has been for centuries. To deny this is to demonstrate ignorance.
What matters more than the genitals in your pants is the amount of money you have. If you have money you can buy politicians, judges, housing, food, weapons, armies, and the list goes on. If you have a dick and no money, you're nothing but a homeless person with no power at all.
Patriarchy hurts men too. It's what labels a poor man as a loser who isn't able to provide for himself, rather than a vulnerable human being who needs help.
If that's true, that's great! You can just make some money and you'll get power. The only alternative is that you have some qualities that make you permanently not have power.
This is interesting. As a life-long feminist, a male, and a vulnerable person, it has always occurred to me that there is a generalization of the ideas of feminism that apply to all vulnerable people subject to the self-interested authority of others.
Kyriarchy encompasses sexism, racism, ableism, ageism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Catholicism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, classism, xenophobia, economic injustice, the prison-industrial complex, colonialism, militarism, ethnocentrism, speciesism, linguicism and other forms of dominating hierarchies
Anti-Catholicism? You mean the global formal hierarchy that’s solidly historically in support of fascism and against feminism? O…Kay. Why is that the literally only religion listed there? I get why you’d want to protect minority religious practices but why single out Catholicism?
Take down capitalism but not the patriarchy, and all you're left with is a non-capitalist patriarchy. Which would suit some just fine, sure, but one thing it isn't is constructive.
