Electoral politics can solve things. It's not the problem. The problem is it requires an educated populace. That's where we're fucked up. The majority of people are fed misinformation or just simply don't care and just vote party line.

Honestly if we had a short multi-choice questionnaire before the ballot. Testing voters knowledge about relevant and contemporary facts surrounding the candidates and the parties. Weighting their vote by their score. It would probably go a long way. Though problematically then we start approaching things like a poll tax again.

In the long term the ignorance hurts us all. But it will pad the returns for next quarter. And that's all they care about.
- How will an educated populace help when someone can say "I'm a progressive" during elections and then say "I never said I was a progressive" when in office? And for six years the asshole gets to do shit until the next time at which point he has a huge advantage to win a primary - assuming there is one - and the alternative is even worse?

Democrats and progressives need to stop electing Republicans into office.

He's just being safe. There are a lot of Republicans in PA that voted for him. There's no political advantage to him coming out and saying he is against those nominees right now. He can play both sides, right up until the vote comes and he has to choose one. It might not even get that far, if something new comes out that sinks their nominations.

I guarantee that if it gets to a vote he will not be the 50th vote in favor of either nominee. If he votes in favor it will be after there are enough votes to pass already, and Chuck might let him just to keep those Pennsylvania R's on his side.

And people wonder why Democrats are so unpopular when they're trying to play the bases against each other.

If his is the deciding vote, all the money in my pocket against all the money in yours, says he votes against. But it won't be, Republicans will be in the majority, and they'll push through Hegseth and Patel, just like they pushed through Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barret. This is PR to keep PA Republicans onside, you know, to get re-elected, and keep his seat. And red meat for the idiots, to point, and go "look look look oooo oooo oooo" as if it's anyone but positioning. Elections have consequences. Seems a dumb idea to blame Fetterman just for shits and giggles.
