Shell quietly backs away from pledge to increase ‘advanced recycling’ of plastics
  • This is not even showing face. Only a fraction of the people that saw the initial announcement and subsequent PR will see this article. They'll still be seen as 'trying to pivot to renewables' or 'trying to mitigate pollution'.

  • Secret Service ramped up security after receiving intel of Iranian plot to assassinate Trump; no known connection to shooting
  • It's just crazy that the perimeter was like 100m if trained snipers routinely take out targets at 1km+. If they really thought Iran was a threat it definitely doesn't look like they did anything to stop it (and I think the thing that is really stopping other nation states from assassinating American heads of state or candidates is the guarantee that the US would invade like the next day, not the logistics of actually carrying it out).

  • Lineman Crews working to Restore Power in Houston Are Being Attacked
  • That doesn't mention fentanyl at all. Just to clarify, I don't have any doubt that rednecks in Texas are brandishing their guns to linemen and shooting at them. It's just the fentanyl stuff I don't believe.

  • The only way we lose is if we stand divided.
  • Yep, democrats will do anything but appeal to the voters they actually need. Hillary didn't campaign in Michigan and spent a fortune in campaign money in Texas, but they're still blaming her loss on Jill Stein (as if people that would rather vote third party in a swing state would switch to the democrats if only you yelled at them enough).

Biden lost critical swing state Muslims, a swathe of Gen Z and there's probably a bunch of independents that do care about the age issue and also don't see the "great economy" Biden keeps talking about.

  • Have you ever caught a marketing or spam email sent using one of your email aliases?
  • I've caught a few, usually the email gets leaked in a data breach (ie. Adobe got breached a while back, so I just block all email to [email protected]). Surprisingly I don't really catch a lot of companies reselling mailing lists, it's mostly data breaches that you can find on haveibeenpwned.

  • Moto Tag is the AirTag for Android we've been waiting for
  • This is for the tag on your keys or some other EDC item. If you're carrying it with you all the time anyway, why not add extra functionality? The ring tag I have on my keys allows me to ring my phone if I lost it, it's similar to that.

  • Hey wait a minute, then why are prices so high.
  • Victoria has introduced a tax on vacant homes, but they're finding it hard to enforce in practice (there's really only a bunch of indirect indicators that you can rely on, stuff like census date, electricity use, etc), and it turns out that the bastards that would just leave a house empty have no issue with not declaring this.
