I have rewatched MGSV trailers multiple times, and I find this combination of 5+ minutes videos with scenes and music building the right atmosphere to be amazing.
The other thing is, that for some, they created fake expectations of what story was going to be about.
Death Stranding first trailer is also great, it's just one scene from the game, and you have no slightest idea what's going on.
I had never played a Battlefield game, and that trailer got me pumped enough to buy it at launch. Also, WWI was such an interesting (and horrifying) war.
Kane & Lynch 2 Dog Days - War Junkie - I love the contrast between the rough and shitty situation of a dude who can't let go of criminal life compared to a psychopath who managed to get his life together.
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is a fantastic trailer but it's almost cheating because Answers is such an unbelievable Uematsu banger that it carries it on music alone.
One of my favorite tracks on the OST, and I love how they've synced all the cuts to the music. It's a fantastic sizzle reel showing off little bits and pieces of everything that's cool in this game.
The most excited I have ever been for a trailer was when I saw an ad for Secret of Mana on TV; and it's entirely because it was the first time I ever saw a video game advertised on TV and not just in magazines.
No Man's Sky trailers for updates are pretty good. Always watch them even if I don't play it much. All gameplay, great transitions, great background music.
A favorite from this year is the trailer for Doom: Dark Ages. Excellent pacing. Weapons I’m waiting to get my hands on. It makes it clear how it’s going to set itself apart from the previous entries, and I’m hyped for it.
An all-time classic will forever be the first trailer for Zelda: Twilight Princess. At the time it was the right trailer for a new Zelda. People wanted a ”proper” Zelda after Wind Waker, and what they presented was just mind blowing. In the end I didn’t enjoy TP as much as I wanted, but that first trailer still gives me goose bumps. At least TP made me find a new appreciation for WW.
The E3 reveal trailer for The legend of Zelda: Twillight Princess still remains one if the most exciting moments in gaming history. I still get goosebumps when I see Miyamoto holding up the sword on stage to thundering applause. Even though the game is among the lesser memorable ones in the series now.
I also remember rewatching the Breath of the Wild E3 gameplay trailer dozens of time. It's just so perfectly paced and cut with a perfect music score to go with it. But even though the game turned out to be as great as the trailer promised I couldn't bring myself to buying the sequel. I'm just so done with Nintendo that I couldn't really enjoy it.
