New Plastic Set: Dead Animal Bits
From the mind of Pete the Wargamer! This crazy box set features three frames absolutely chock full of wild and wonderful bits to customize your models, bases, and dioramas! The original frame was launched with his recent Kickstarter (fulfillment is wrapping up now and almost all North American and...
The USAF says it’s out of time on China, which has kicked flight testing into overdrive with a focus on harnessing artificial intelligence for a major tactical edge.
Full Spectrum Warrior.
What a neat game that nobody talks about. It's in the squad level tactical shooter wheelhouse, although it isn't actually a shooter. You take an over-the-shoulder view switching between two (sometimes 3) teams in a squad, directing them through levels. It is sort of like Brothers In Arms, though in a more modern setting, small numbers of people to control, and having to fully rely on your NPCs to kill the enemies. An interesting twist on the squad management genre, it sits somewhere between a tactical management shooter, and a top down management game like Door Kickers.
'Screamers' is a 1995 scifi movie starring Peter Weller. There's just something about the vibe of this movie that really draws me in. If you like sort of bleak mid budget scifi this is a good one.
'Hell Comes To Frogtown', a 1988 movie starring Rowdy Roddy Piper. A post apocalypse where there are frog people and Piper is playing a Mad Max type. It's an absurd fever dream of a movie. 'Big Trouble In Little China' energy.
'Soldier' from 1998 starring Kurt Russell. This is like a forgotten Kurt Russell movie. It's not particularly deep, but it's a good popcorn movie to watch a simple plot of a super soldier taking out evil super soldiers.
'The Spy Who Came In From The Cold' is a 1965 movie. About, of course, a spy. An agent sent not East Germany during the Cold War. It's not the normal action oriented James Bond kind of spy movie. It's a lot talkier, and I find it kind of depressing. So if you like that sort of thing, there it is.
'Observe And Report' is a Seth Rogan movie about being a mall security guard. It is nothing like the awful 'Paul Blart' movies, which everyone assumes when I mention it in real life. This movie is more like Death To Smoochie in its dark comedy sensibilities.
I draw a lot of organic things. I think the organic looking lines are just a result. Other people here and else are also seeing neurons and the inside of an eye.
I'm getting us over a needed benchmark this week, doing a handoff meeting to somebody, and then coming back in December to jointly work on it with them. At that point all the work should be done and it should be more of giving them a tour of the thing. Everyone knows this is a terrible situation. A lot of things went wrong to get us here.
Edit: Having a coffee right now after fixing an automation thing from another company which attaches to our robot. The guy that company sent was "I dunno what's wrong with it." I just want to sit next to my cat, paint minis, and watch Stargate.
Big stuff straight into the trash. Little stuff into the sink strainer. It all settles to the middle of the strainer. Pick up the strainer and dump it into the trash.
Does anyone use in-sink garbage disposals anymore?
When I was growing up, these seemed to be ubiquitous and I never liked them. They seemed overcomplicated for the purpose, and created a gross and smelly area under the sink that needed more cleaning.
I haven't had one in years, as a simple sink mesh does the same job. But I don't really know how other people are. Are under sink garbage disposals still common, and commonly actually used by people here?
Dang. I wasn't looking to make a period accurate clone or anything, but I wanted grip to try out for some builds with limited space. I suppose I can get something close enough designed and printed.
Documented? They print a warning on the block packaging now.
Yes, although that response image is about Lucas' supposed hate of Mara Jade as a character and less about her not being a Jedi. I know exactly what footage that's from.
Oh you see, this is a project that's been going on for years, and I started into it six months ago to get it done by 2025. It's not just a computer thing, but a robot with a lot of both hardware and software work. Naturally last month suddenly a lot of overhauls were made to the design, and since I've single handedly installed all of them, no one person except for me is familiar with exactly how everything fits together. The project plan and timeline is "get it done fasterer." At this point they will throw whatever material resources are needed to me, but we just don't have the personnel aside from me.
The project management is also not from the same continent as me, so meetings are a painful thing to schedule. The manager has finally come to the US to oversee the last round of acceptance work.
Right now the mechanicals are 99.9% done and I'm interacting remotely with software people to be their onsite hands.
The project manager is flittering around the room.
Literally dealing with that right now. The project manager is on site, and I thought that I'd finally have some backup on putting together this monster project. He's so far been asking a lot of questions legitimately trying to wrap his head around what he's seeing.
I'm the most (only) experienced person on the project and I don't like it.
I think you misread my comment. She wasn't a Jedi in the old EU, and as far as I know she doesn't exist in new canon. So I'm wondering why she is on the list of Jedi running around, as no matter which continuity you pick, she doesn't seem to fit.
Does Mara Jade even exist in Disney canon? In old EU she certainly wasn't a Jedi during ESB.
But yes, especially with Disney canon the number of Jedi or "former Jedi and not Jedi anymore but actually basically still just Jedi" running around has gotten out of control. I chalk it up to the original trilogy vaguely assuming the clone wars had happened longer ago than ended up being written.
A folding-fin version of the active-radar-guided missile will equip the J-35 and will likely expand the J-20's internal carriage from four to six. A folding-fin version of the active-radar-guided missile may be key to providing medium-range internal weapons for the J-35 stealth fighter.
As the political winds have shifted in the U.S., Ukraine holding Kursk as a bargaining chip could be seen as more important than ever.

A Surefire griplight alternative that isn't preposterously expensive?
I never picked up a Griplight when they were common, and nowadays they are hard to find and priced to match the rarity.
I'd like something with the same form factor. I don't mind if I have to provide my own switch for the light, so long as I can easily install the light in a similar layout. I'm not looking for one of those hideous aliexpress grips with a super cheap flashlight that sits on top of the grip. The light being forward of the grip is a big draw. I'm hoping some company makes a clone or design inspired by the Griplight out there.
I started watching SGU.
I never finished SGU back when I first got access to it. I've finished both SG-1 and Atlantis countless times. I remember watching most of the SGU pilot episode and quitting. I thought it was being too overly edgy and grimdark, trying to follow in the footsteps of the Battlestar Galactica reboot. I couldn't stand the idea of a Stargate show that was just characters being awful to each other.
Recently I tried giving it another shot and made it through the pilot episode. The characters are still abrasive to each other, but much less than I remembered, and they seem to for the most part mellow out a bit with each other as the episodes progress. I just finished the forth episode and I do want to continue. I am hoping they start actually doing something more than "the ship is falling apart we need to do something to fix it" plots, but I suppose the show really is trying to plant the setting.
What should I even do with all these scouts?
Due to a surprising turn of events, I now have a heavy amount of pewter scouts.
I have enough scouts already for my classic marine army, so no need for me to paint them up for that. I'm thinking of using these scouts to do something interesting. Maybe convert some of them into a Necromunda gang? I don't know. I want to really do something neat with these minis.
