Ferrari to power Cadillac F1 team in "multi-year" agreement
  • Well, no. The "multi-year" part of the headline is fairly clickbaity as GM will provide its own engines from 28 as planned and Cadillac will be a full works team. But Ferrari will provide engines for '26 and '27 which is technically "multi-year".

  • Bottas on his time at Sauber
  • Ah you're right, I remember now.

  • McLaren is your 2024 Formula 1 Constructors World Champion!
  • It would have been absolutely hilarious if they managed to fumble both championships, but on balance this was probably the fair result (they've had the best car for the majority of the season).

  • Bottas on his time at Sauber
  • It's been a rapid ass decline too, if memory serves they came out swinging in '22 and were pretty rapid during the first half of the season. Didn't Bottas finish like 5th in Bahrain?

Definitely struggled to keep up development pace and direction this rule set, sort of felt like they just got lost. Progressively gotten slower and slower.

  • Bottas on his time at Sauber
  • I think the hair looks terrible aesthetically, but the look kind of wraps around due to the pure no fucks given and I end up actually loving it for him. I respect it. I couldn't pull it off, that's for certain.

  • Pierre Gasly finishes with no crash damage cost throughout the entire season
  • He also had a quite impressive second half of the season I thought. Hope he'll have a better car next year.

  • Max Verstappen to serve FIA 'public interest' punishment in Rwanda next week
  • How is this something they are able to enforce?

  • What are your favourite trailers?
  • FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is a fantastic trailer but it's almost cheating because Answers is such an unbelievable Uematsu banger that it carries it on music alone.

  • What are your favourite trailers?
  • Assassin's Creed: Unity had one of the best trailers of all time, and it will take something truly special to dethrone it from my personal nr 1.

  • [Video] Mark Rober | Can A Crow Solve 9 Impossible Puzzles?
  • The puzzles are hardly impossible but the YouTube game requires a choice amount of clickbait I suppose.

I still really enjoyed the video, and the ending was very cute. Maybe crosspost it to [email protected] ?

  • having a holly, jolly christmas from the windows to the walls
  • Wrong community, this belongs in "Amazing Taste, Perfect Execution".

  • Deadlock 12-06-2024 Update
  • Lots to digest here. Only had time for one game today so not sure about everything but it feels pretty good.

Pocket ult change is more of a buff than a nerf I think. The satchel change will hurt him early/mid though. They had to do something because he was very good.

Infernus looks insane now. Charges on two skills is crazy value on Rapid Recharge and he's just gonna dash all over. Silence is mandatory now or he ain't getting caught.

Urn changes seem to be intended to make the game more consistent and predictable, to facilitate generating fights I assume. First urn always spawns in the same place now and the movespeed of the carrier is consistent, so you can plan more precisely.

Frenzy is a stacked item now, it's extremely nice to condense it with Berserker into one slot as many who wanted either struggled to fit both. Leech is also insane now and should be picked up more often.

  • Finally, The Witcher 3 with the fat cut out: They're releasing a physical Gwent board game for true connoisseurs
  • I haven't played MTG in a few years (and don't intend to come back what with the SpongeBob crossover and all) but Magic used to at least try to limit mental math in terms of changing values on cards. Buffs lasted a turn, and anything permanent was auras or equipment or +1/+1 counters.

Gwent has a lot of numbers changing value contextually, often by multiplication instead of simple addition. Now, combat math and all that is way more complex in Magic, but Gwent does have lots of changing numbers to track.

  • Path of Exile II Queue Warning Issued as 1 Million Early Access Redemptions Are Hit - Insider Gaming
  • Too much going on. It's like they've just accepted and (mostly) implemented every single feature request they ever got without necessarily thinking about how it should work with all the other stuff.

I played PoE for a good few years around its release and had a lot of fun initially with the temporary hardcore leagues with new mechanics every time, but there is a good reason I haven't come back to the game - and it's not just that I'm kind of over the ARPG thing. Scope Creep has turned it into a convoluted mess to get back into if you're been out of the game for a while (or never played it) and I say that as someone who typically enjoys complexity.

  • Finally, The Witcher 3 with the fat cut out: They're releasing a physical Gwent board game for true connoisseurs
  • A very appropriate release to celebrate the 10th anniversary of TW3 (my god time fucking flies). Much like the author of the article I was always surprised there weren't any physical editions of Gwent being sold. And again like the author, I hope it's the Witcher 3 version of Gwent being sold and not the standalone. I want to re-live my degenerate decoy/spy shenanigans.

  • [OpenCritic] Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Reviews (86 Top Critic Average 91% Critics Recommend)
  • Of course, but if a game's quality was typically inversely proportional to the review scores, wouldn't that mean 10/10 reviewed stuff like Elden Ring and BG3 was garbage and the truly great games averaged 1-3/10? I'm just confused by the statement.

  • Martin Luiga interviewed for the 41st Precinct Podcast

As an early contributor to Disco Elysium, as well as a member of Kurvitz's tabletop sessions over the years, Martin Luiga discusses Elysium, as well as touches on his relationships with Robert and Argo Tuulik and more. He also confirms he, Robert, Alex Rostov and Helen Hindpere are in fact working on something for Red Info.

    Worth listen!

Another Disco Elysium spiritual successor announced: Summer Eternal

    summereternal.com SUMMER ETERNAL

Summer Eternal is a brand new project in collective art-making, developing counter-cultural computer role-playing games with a commitment to worker co-ownership and artistic integrity.

    SUMMER ETERNAL

This one has Argo Tuulik and Lenval Brown involved, which lends some serious credibility to the project in my eyes. Tuulik was one of the prominent writers of Disco Elysium, as well as one of the settings' co-creators as one of the players in Kurvitz's tabletop RPG sessions.

I thought this graph was super interesting as it is a near-perfect illustration of when data analytics and advanced statistics started to enter into football (2014-2016) and some of the effects it's had on the game.

    Help Improve Deadlock's Matchmaking

    forums.playdeadlock.com Bad Matchmaking Thread

Use this thread to share matchids for games that you think the matchmaker did a bad job at. If you can explain what you felt was a problem in it that would be helpful as well. Do not post matchids for games that were within the past 24 hours from this post. Games older than that are fine and...

Post the match IDs of any games where you thought matchmaking was poor into the linked thread in order to help tune the algorithm.

DISCLAIMER: The past 24h (Oct 3-4th) have had extra poor matchmaking due to a bug, so omit any IDs from that time frame.

"Stories of Dota" YouTube channel publishes one last video before shutting down production - The Entire Story of Dota

It's very sad to see one of the most high-effort Dota content creators stop. I completely sympathise with their reasons, but I will sorely miss their videos as there were so many heroes I wish they'd gotten to do videos about.

Anyone else struggling to enjoy the game due to insane skill gaps and horribly lopsided matchmaking?

Out of every 10 games I play, maybe one of them is a close, even game where everyone is on roughly the same skill level - and that's probably me being generous.

Almost every game has people on either team not just losing their lane but going something like 0-17. I know it's early alpha and has had a huge influx of players recently so maybe it's to be expected to some extent, but even back in my Dota days matchmaking was never this bad. This is like, public WC3 Dota 1 lobbies level.

How are you guys finding it? Anyone break through the MMR barrier into a point where you're getting consistently good games? How long did it take, and what MMR? (you can check here

While still holding out hope of one day seeing his book (the excellently titled "etceteracide") released, a song lyric will do. RSH was great with words, and I always thought this read pretty well as a poem.

Inside the fast-moving launch of Kamala Harris for president

    > Three weeks into her presidential run was the first time the Biden campaign’s pollsters — now hers — held a deep-dive call with Kamala Harris’ inner circle to discuss what she’s been saying on the stump.

    > Over the line came a lot of praise, but also some suggested tweaks. First, said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff Garin, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, “We’re not going back.” It wasn’t focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the “weird” talk — too negative.

Yes, stop using the two approaches that has been most effective. Absolute genius. I can't for the life of me see why the Dems have a reputation of shooting themselves in the foot.

EDIT: Thankfully Kamala trusted her instincts and has had the good sense to ignore said advice so far
