I'm pretty sure the riots in Ottawa that needed to be broken up by the military, is still pretty fresh in everyone's mind, since it happened a few years ago during COVID. And yes, there's controversy about how much of a "riot" it actually was, and whether the force used was excessive or an over reach; but none of that is the point.

It’s Canada. Not Australia. Attacking back on behalf of victims takes some emotional thinking in the moment which Canadians don’t have. They just talk about the shit after it happened and what ‘should have happened’. Australians meanwhile: passengers will think in the moment enough to gleefully toss a violent drunk off the bus to protect everyone else on the bus including the driver.
