No bueno! First things first, check your meter and see if the number is higher or lower than the bill; occasionally it will be an estimate in which case you should be able to provide your own actual reading to your provider, or it will right itself by the next bill.
Next, if the read is accurate, check for leaks. Generally you will need a plumber to check for you, but better to be safe. (Edit: adding, if there is a leak you will most likely still be liable for the bill).
Otherwise, it may just be the gas price increases have come into effect, and you're seeing that on your bill now.
Reading is accurate. Haven't checked for leaks, but my graphs don't suddenly spike and are comparable to last year. I think shit's just expensive....boo
😱 😨 that's rude. That's very rude. Times like this I'm grateful that my place has zero gas heating. But even the freaking daily supply charge alone for a gas stovetop is $1/day.
I'm wasted on this audience (my parents). The TV just had some ad where a woman had all of her toes amputated due to diabetes, showed her nub foot. She said "you never think it'll happen to you, but until you put your foot into someone else's shoes..." and I said "Ha! Was that a pun?? That was toe-tally a pun.." and dad was like "yeah".
I crave appreciation for my comedy and I'm not getting it from these supposed "loved ones".
Tasked with performance managing someone (book extra work).
Good news is that we have a new manager and they've been leaning on me to guide them through what we do and asking for my advice quite a bit. We get on well and think along the same lines.
Bad news is that higher duties kind of require me to be in the office 3 days a week.
Yeah, I've only ended up in one once which was when vline completely screwed up their schedule and the train I was trying to take to Eaglehawk was about 40 minutes late, but they wanted to turn it around at Bendigo to try and get the return service running on time and save at least part of their timetable. The conductor came around and asked who was going to Eaglehawk and then called a taxi for the 8 or so of us that were trying to get there
But this is slightly more interesting because this is a permanent replacement. Evidently they've decided it's cheaper to just call a taxi for the people who want to get there than run a bus service anymore, but I guess for some reason they can't actually scrap the route
Approx 6mg of gummy, a good episode of Star Trek TNG, off to a traditional no-name diner next door for a hot meatloaf & gravy sandwich and a tall cold country style lemonade.. now I've plonked myself on a layback lawn chair in my hotels courtyard where the wifi is fast and plentiful. Not a bad way to spend a summer evening in Deadwood, SD.
Update: I have relocated myself away from the flagpole because a thunderstorm has rolled in. Enjoy 79 seconds of Deadwood Summer Storm with me as I sit here: https://youtu.be/-OHD2UdU40c
Quality will always triumph over quantity. Can the reddit DT boast a poet, a professional cat sitter and a variety of canned fish enthusiasts? No, they content themselves with merest gossip. I discard them. Also the good cooks all came here.
Ugh, just remembered due to schedule changes the person I am relieving tonight is someone who I dislike immensely, think I'll forgo my strict punctuality and relieve them last minute. I hate to be rude, but with a week like the one I've had so far I couldn't bare having to listen to her crap for more than a minute.
Hard agree. I have never used the downlights in my apartment because they're white. I have yellow lamps, yellow fairy lights, and multicoloured globes, but I fkn loathe white lighting.
I work nights under white light and it's disgusting, some nights I spend the whole 8-12hrs with an awful headache. I begged to have them changed and their answer was to allow me to turn all but one light off which does shit all when it's still bouncing off all the windows.
About a decade and a half ago, my dad's side would hire a houseboat on the Murray, in Mildura, and we'd spend 2 weeks in the middle of nowhere wakeboarding, skiing, and drinking. My uncle has a ski boat and a tinny, so we'd hook both to the back of the houseboat when we felt like moving.
My uncle and aunt also have a few ski-toys, like an inflatable biscuit, or these blow-up pod things you could sit in and be pulled by the boat. I was by myself on the biscuit thing, and my aunt was driving the ski boat, and she was terrifying. She would do these donuts in the water so the wake would crash into itself and get super high and choppy, and I'm bouncing around holding on for dear life. Then, the wakes coalesced and the biscuit got absolutely launched
When I came back down, I was still holding on, but slowly let go and slid off. Totally done haha!
Here is the pic my dad snapped of me mid-air, during that epic launch:
that's my foot poking out the bottom there hahah
Edit: to clarify, this is meant to be my 'funny story' contribution lol
Epic! Nothing like a crazy boat pilot to make you feel alive (and nervous!). I've gotta do a similar holiday one day, always wanted to go on a house boat.
Finally going home, I'm just happy to get away from the tradies. So bloody loud! I don't think anyone else was in the office complex except for me and my boss lmfao
The same cat who turns up her nose at her wet food if the chunks are too large is now scoffing the tails off the prawns from the sorta-paella. facepalm
Made a impromptu Japanese curry with what I had, which was onion, capsicum, zucchini, beef mince and a tin of diced tomato. Added chilli, ginger and garlic and curry roux cubes. First time using mince to make Japanese curry and it worked well!
I finally had my hot water system replaced. It’s so nice to have hot water again though I’m going to have to get used to this system.
It doesn’t seem as hot as what the last one was as it doesn’t take as much cold water to cook the water down for a wash. Maybe I can adjust the temperature on the unit itself but I’ll leave that for tomorrow since it’s dark already but….
Oh my god is it so nice to have it on demand again!
Also dinner will be organised soon and photos will come.
Yeah. I got the creamy tomato pasta for 1.90 and the potato salad for 1.10.
Not sure if I’ll try the creamy tomato pasta again. By the time I got through it I felt like it had a sour taste or something. Might have been the vinegar in it.
No exercises for me today. Why? I have a cold, finally I've succumbed to the thing which has gone through the whole family. Easily done when your partner coughs wetly all over you! In the kitchen, no less. It was as disgusting as it sounds. Also my MIL has apparently had the same thing and keeps coming in to our place while I'm at work, coughing and touching things and dropping in cheap NQR junk food for the children (because that's what sick kids need🙄) spreading more germs around. Didn't learn anything from the pandemic did we. Fuck them both. No, I'm just the only breadwinner, supporting 5 people with my wage and paying the bills for the entire house, her part and ours. People are stupid.
Luckily I have an awesome hoodie (thankyou dear friend 💜) to wear in bed whilst running like a tap. I'm not good at being a sick person, I haven't been sick since 2017 when I had glandular fever. Please forgive me being a grumpy bum. I just get crotchety when preventable things aren't prevented.
You sound like you are in such a frustrating situation with an unsupportive and thoughtless partner. Hope you feel better soon and that he gets a clue.
I know this isn’t going to solve much or anything but it might help.
Obviously plenty of fluids and rest and picking up some Armaforce and taking it can help get rid of it quicker.
It’s essentially olive leaf extract and some other natural stuff concentrated in tablet form. Might be a little pricey though but you can ask for it over the counter at chemist warehouse.
Busy day today, my desk looks like a disaster. I could almost make a fort or a wall with all these books on my desk.
Well at least the sun is shining today, good to see it out.
Super busy day today, I hope I can find some rest or break time somewhere.
Also as a continuation to my dinner plans, I'll eat that pasta salad thing I bought and microwave it to melt the cheese ontop with the chorizo layered under it.
I was only supposed to be out in the field from 8-11 but I ended up being out from 8-2 because the weather was SO good and I really liked the job we're on (and I won't have the chance to help out any more as I'll be based south side from tonight). WHAT a mood booster!
I have still got a lot to do but it doesn't feel anxiety inducing at all - kind of looking forward to smashing out some work this evening knowing it'll be the last I see of these projects - and I still have plenty of energy to get through it after a short break waiting for the traffic to die down.
Meds, huh. Who knew getting the right one could actually make a difference
Lovely day outside. I've just been outside tidying up my outdoor setting to list for sale, and the fact that I've come back inside instead of sitting out on the neatly set up lounge in the sunshine is a good indication that selling it is a good idea! So, if anyone is looking for a second hand outdoor lounge setting, bargains to be had on Marketplace now! Meanwhile, I'm off to find more things to get rid of.
I am death warmed up, but I wanted to remain cold;
They say death becomes you, and so does getting old.
The pains of life seem to have increased threefold,
But they're worth it as long as you stay bold.
No, not all that glitters is really gold,
Sometimes it's pyrite you get given to hold.
But it's still worth it, even if we get old.
They're right above where I work and the drilling and cutting is just actually painful. I can't wait till this is over!
Edit: I had a phone call meeting, unlucky, but lucky in that he needed to reschedule so whoo! Still can't wait for the heater to be fixed, it wasn't so bad yesterday.
So, we're beating /r/melbourne and this is a waste of a post. So I'm going to recommend a youtube channel called Techmoan. https://www.youtube.com/@Techmoan
Oh wow, it looks like Coles has a generic version of the paper pellet litter Melbcat needs. Is that new? It’s not in stock right now and it’s still expensive but the unit cost is lower and it looks identical.
Also I forgot to buy more treats when I made that Petcircle order so I’ve added them to the cart and am waiting to see if they send another coupon 😏
2 questions:
Are most GPs okay with visits from people with cold/flu symptoms now?
And: if I get a medical certificate for a few days, but feel okay to return to work while still within the period I'm cleared as unfit for work - is there a problem with me doing so?
Others have gone over the pros and cons for the second, so I'll just answer the first: my GP asks if you have symptoms, call ahead when making the appointment and arrangements will be made.
Not sure about the first question, but if you get a medical certificate you can't go back to work unless the doctor does a new certificate. Your employer would be breaching their OH&S responsibilities to let you work when a doctor has said you are not fit to do so.
It's a bit awkward. Like I want to go back to work ASAP, mainly as I have no sick leave. But also, I don't want to go and get one day medical certificate and then risk still not feeling up to it tomorrow.
Restless sleep as Zooks was snuggling and headbutting me off and on all night. So much for my planned early night to get lots of rest if not sleep.
Went outside to move the car before someone else claimed the spot as the lawn guy is likely coming today, and tidied up the last of the rubbish from the great Operation Sort Shit from the garage (well there's a couple of bits that can be heaved but my feet and hands were wet from the dew). Concerned Feline Looks were had.
Now on the couch drinking a well-deserved coffee.
Alright, I'm definitely coming down,
With whatever is going around.
I feel my body getting weaker,
Thick brain fog rolling in.
My outlook's getting bleaker,
Tired tunnels beneath my skin.
Dinner is pita bread pizza,
My rhymes are becoming slim.
Blah blah blah blah blah,
Blah blah blah blah blim.
Just did a dash outside. Another bathtub of coffee and some of those cheesy potat pancakes, please chef.
Also throw in what you want for yourself on me. :)
