Well, thanks to this post, I not only found out a little bit about Lemmy(dot)SDF(dot)org because it made me finally decided to look up the instance in a web browser, but also lead me to a weird rabbit hole of a Baptist sect that believe that select people were elected before the world was formed to get eternal salvation and that Jesus died pretty much only to save them. So, thank you for inadvertently giving me the push to look up the instance.
Side tangents aside, definitely agree with the post.
There was a pretty extensive study done on this around the early 1940's: findings were that punching, while not necessarily a bad thing to do to Nazis, is typically followed by the undesirable side effect of the Nazi in question getting up following the punch.
The experiment included quite a few alternative methods of interacting with Nazis that resulted in much better outcomes. Given the technological advances we've made since the 1940s, I think it's time we revisited the study using modern tools. We can never have too much peer review!
It's like the feeling you get playing Wolfenstein. There are no enemies you should avoid destroying, they all deserve it and it feels right to clear the Nazis from existence.
