The thing that makes me nuts is people justify it by, "but it's the only place I can find (person or service)."
Back in my day! People posted their products and services on multiple platforms to reach a broader audience. If the creator you like is too lazy to market themselves, having gotten spoiled on "Xitter will do my marketing for me," then that's on them. Encourage them to post on other platforms in order to reach you.
How do you solve for example, de-federation with government owned instances ( which I imagine many would do)
Mastodon suffers the same problem as Twitter, if the people in control of the servers don't like it, they get to be arbitrate for their users. The solution is not for everyone to host their own instance as it's just immensely wasteful and complex, and since de-federation is not positively communicated, one can go a very long time before realizing they are getting content filtered unwillingly.
I just don't see how this problem (specific content being blocked) would be solved by the Kamala Harris's campaign team having a mastodon instance.
FYI there is a threads relay to mastadon for the official White House account. There's also several unofficial xitter relays for VP Harris to Mastadon.
If you'd like official accounts on Mastadon please contact the White House / Biden / Harris and let them know.
Musk has also attacked Harris more directly. “Democrats destroy democracy in pursuit of power,” a QAnon-linked influencer wrote with Biden’s resignation letter attached. “The Democratic elite, corporate media, and billionaire donors successfully pressured the candidate chosen by Democratic primary voters to drop out because he’s down in the polls and losing.”
Same bs "moderates" tried to frame Biden stepping down...
They really do sound more and more like trumpets everyday
I mean, the story linked above includes a screenshot showing the rate-limiting error message. I assume it's been fixed, but no reason to think the rate limit error didn't actually happen.
no reason to think the rate limit error didn't actually happen
I didn’t say that it didn’t happen
I reported my experience
I can think of at least two reasons to fake this story: (1) Harris gained a follower when I performed my test, same as the millions of others seeing this story, (2) bad story about Musk for the Musk haters
So maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. I haven’t seen evidence other than the claim of someone who supposedly follows thousands of people but hadn’t yet followed the vice president.
Not saying it is true, not saying it isn’t. Saying it might not be, and my own observation doesn’t replicate the claim.
It was a rate limit for someone following too many people. Anyone can go follow her no problem. The person writing this article know there are morons out there that will eat up and share anything vaguely anti-musk.
