Elon now hates Wikipedia, because he considers it "Woke"
  • Thanks for letting me know about RationalWiki. The Kiwix zim looks fairly old. I attempted the more recent archive on the page that you linked to but it's a huge xml file.

What program do I need to be able to navigate this dump to be able to use the content?

  • Download Wikipedia. It doesn't take much storage space without pictures. Then when it gets taken down, sued, hacked, edited with misinformation etc you still have it. I was thinking this months ago and this now confirms their plans.

  • President Biden Signs Defense Bill Blocking Health Care For Trans Military Children, First Anti-LGBTQ+ Federal Law Enacted Since ‘Defense of Marriage Act’
  • I'll take lip service over whatever we have in store for the foreseeable future. Wouldn't be surprised if Republicans try to eradicate or criminalize lgbt.

Politicians support whatever they think the popular opinion is of voters. Most don't care about lgbt but if they see enough voters do then they support stuff like gay marriage. Whenever they see lgbt rights lost during an election their takeaway is that it doesn't matter to people who turn out to vote.

  • "Homeless" is a lie
  • Is this older or does his wealth just fluctuate +-100 billion as stocks fluctuate? Recently read he was at 450 billion.

What's crazy is losing or gaining 100 billion doesn't really affect him, he's still the richest person in the world and it wouldn't change his life any.

  • Yeah there's no right time for everyone. Have people from different countries, cultures and generations on here with totally different values and experiences.

Those of us married at that age probably had to take on a lot of other responsibilities by at least age 18 if not earlier. Someone getting blackout drunk definitely is not in the place for marriage.

  • Anon is SpongeBob
  • I don't look at marriage in that way. I don't see anyone at any age as a permanent person. We are all changing constantly.

I see it more as you make a commitment to eachother to see eachother through life, whatever it brings. We made it through a lot of different things such as a near death experience, job losses, disability and sudden moves.

I don't feel like I need to be the same person or enjoy the same hobbies. As long as the respect and trust is there I'm good. Everyone is different though and have different needs. For us we value stability since both of us lacked family support growing up.

  • Biden is withdrawing his broader student-loan-forgiveness plans that were set to cancel debt for over 38 million borrowers
  • I thought the supreme Court already ruled on that saying he didn't have the authority? I remember that the lower courts ordered him to halt and not pay out prior to that, while they had just started accepting applications.

The negotiated rulemaking plan B attempt was different.

It's all a mess like everything else in Government. Next year is going to bankrupt people when payments have to resume. Then there are tariffs and trade wars and whatever else. Hope we will be ok.

  • Malicious Compliance
  • I live in an urban area and everyone hates this one guy who just moved into the area. He never picks up the poop, neighbors are all pissed writing his landlord and everything.

There's only one tiny patch of grass on the edge of the parking lot and it's completely covered by his dogs poop. The poop doesn't go anywhere and just piles up and now the other people with dogs have no grass to use.

  • Biden is withdrawing his broader student-loan-forgiveness plans that were set to cancel debt for over 38 million borrowers
  • I read that withdrawing the student loans was actually one of the things. If he hadn't Trump could have used the years long progress to implement his own policies. Now he would have to restart the process over again to make any changes.

He just appointed a bunch of federal judges this week.

He has also just made a new international climate agreement. It can probably be thrown out but it's another thing that would cause a delay. Nothing is going to make anything Trump proof since he controls 3 branches of government and is immune to crimes. It's all stall tactics.

Biden is terrible at marketing the stuff he does. He doesn't do enough and the things he does actually do just gets pushed through without any press. He also publicly shows no fight when things are blocked so it looks like he never even attempted. Still runs things like an old time senator expecting nonbiased journalists to spread the word for him.

  • It's good to be da king
  • For him it's not so much a worry about losing people as it is a personal branding ego thing. He's payed off people for stuff that was already known and his supporters didn't care about just to not mention again.

  • U.S. Senate passes defense bill that bars gender-affirming care for service members’ kids
  • You would be surprised. I know of several trans people who transitioned and had surgery decades ago and don't tell anyone. Not even therapists or close friends. If you didn't know them before or have an important specific reason it needs to be known it just never comes up.

That was the goal for a lot of people until recent times. Even now there are still a ton of people who just do it and want to move on with their lives forgetting about it like an old medical issue they resolved.

You are mostly going to notice people who are early on or very open about it. One of the reasons that trans healthcare at a younger age is important is because it makes it much easier to blend in with society the rest of their lives. Blocking this care is going to make trans people more visible than if they weren't forced to go through an unwanted puberty.

Another thing is that a lot of people who have transitioned don't care about stuff like makeup or clothes. It's about identity and physical body features. That stuff comes secondary and early on is often explored more because it's new and can be validating. It's also not about orientation either, there are people who transitioned MTF living lives as lesbians and people FTM lived as gay couples. You yourself are an example of how the clothes you like to wear is unrelated to your gender identity.

  • Most iPhone owners see little to no value in Apple Intelligence so far
  • Thanks I think I figured it out. I had siri set to German, but once I switched it to English it started displaying in iMessage. Still says it's downloading so can't actually use it yet. Must be English exclusive?

  • Diagnosis makes sense.
  • This guy, my first impression of him made me think of a Star Trek alien. Surprised he won over Dr. Oz but figured people wanted someone left leaning. Then he was out on leave for depression, then speeding, drinking and driving. Had a stroke.

He really did not seem mentally or physically stable even if he was a Democrat and seemed like he needed to resign. Now I find out he has decided to become a Republican. Makes sense.

  • I have 18.2 and don't even see how to use the AI features. The only thing I bothered to look up so far was how to use genmoji. But the option still doesn't display in iMessage so I have no idea. Might as well not exist for all I can tell.
