I take regular hour walks. They can help, but please still take your medication if you're on anything. And don't feel bad if it doesn't change your life. Sometimes you just walk to clear your head, and that's still okay.
Can't afford it myself, and I don't know any country lacking insurance adjusters 😅
I bought a cheap TCL TV last year. If you can, turn off the wifi (I literally just wanted the TV, not the "smart" part). I play everything either through a hard drive, laptop or my PS and that works for me. You can also change the settings to open up to the last channel instead of the landing page. I can still connect my TV to Bluetooth. When I turn it on, I see the TCL logo, but after that, nothing.
Oh, me, me! I'm based in the US, but here are a few 🤗
- It's harder for us to get loans for businesses. Most financial services are either harder or more expensive (Ex: You live in the hood and want to start a business, the area you're in is "coded" a certain way, and you get higher loan rates because they assume you to be more risky by default)
- A lot of POC are behind in generational wealth/security because they were barred from communities and businesses that could have been passed down
- We are paid less
- Neighborhoods with high POC population usually get less funding
- Less political power because of how the counties were purposely broken up, so our voices aren't heard as loudly
- Racial profiling
- We are more likely to get arrested, and serve harsher sentences
- Until recently (and still in some places), natural kinky hair had to be "fixed."
- Colorism
- People with heavy accents (not limited to Hispanics of course) can have a harder time at jobs, especially if they're phone base as people can be mad disrespectful
- In our current political environment, Latin Americans are the target of a lot of vitriol, illegal or not
- I can't speak for Latin Americans, but when traveling, Black people have to worry about different things like: Are they racist? If so, how much? Will they let me in businesses? If I'm going for work, will they let me? If I'm not rich, will I still be treated well? We can't just go back packing, because many countries will not be hospitable, either due to race, skin color, or both
- Being spoken too in slang because they assume that's how you talk
- For hobbies, cosplay. POC are routinely dragged for not being the right color or what have you
- For kids, they are seen as older and more dangerous than other non-POC their age and therefore are treated harsher
- "Don't send no Mexicans to my house" - Actual customer
- Even if you get a job, you may be taken off a job because of your skin (there are plenty of stories of people who refuse POC doctors, nurses, etc. I personally was not able to teach a child when abroad because of my skin color, even though I was the only one with a degree).
- Having your name, apperence, hair style mocked, until it's been absorbed by white culture and becomes "cool."
- Having your accolades covered up or ignored (A modern example would be that Renegade dance. The creator was a black girl, but a white girl took off with it. They even had her teaching a dance she didn't create)
- If a show or movie has a POC in it, you have to brace yourself for cries of "wokeness," even before the movie is out
- Being assumed as a diversity hire, regardless of your cardentials
- Something a bit more basic, but make up, hair products, etc. A lot of viral trends are shown on pale skin only, and some popular products don't make darker colors at all, or very few shades. It wasn't until I was in high school that I could find my regular hair products outside of a beauty supply shop.
- POC women and girls are hyper sexualized and are often see as the cause for physical and sexual abuse instead of the victim
- "You speak so well."
- "Are you the first person in your family to finish highschool/college?"
- Being the only black kid on the class when they start the slavery lessons.
- "Don't you speak English!?"
- For black women, we are routinely mocked not just outside our race, but inside. Many black men don't fuck with black women because they drank the kool-aid
- Having to regulate your feelings because you don't want to be the "angry" black person
- "Oh, I didn't meant you. You're one of the good ones."
Of course, these have different levels of severity, some of these are not just applicable to POC, but this was a sampler of you will. Hope that helps!
I love all these comments like this woman is asking, cares, or is even interested. "I totally probably would." Okay, but would she??? Why do they think this woman wants to be someone's last call when she could be someone's first choice? If I looked at a picture of a regular guy and my fat ass was like, "Hmm, I mean, if I was drunk, and I had no options, I guess I'd take him home" I'd be dragged, and rightfully so. 😂
Ted Cruz ran out and is trying to hoard them all for himself.
Hard to narrow it down to just one. I'd say it's a toss up between my eating habits and weed.
- Not looking at the road.
- Speeding, even more egregious during bad weather
- Eating something that isn't hand food or is messy. Also drinking from bottles that require a twist off. Straw is fine.
- Doing anything on the phone. I don't care if it's just to skip a song. Tell me and I'll do it. I'll even read texts to you. Just keep your eyes on the road.
- Agreesive drivers. Like, people who wanna try and race others, etc.
- No insurance of any kind
I had a lady who kept going on about how they were trying for kids, like, all the time. And if it wasn't that, it was her bad knees. Started calling her "No-Knees McFucksalot." I private of course. But like, we get it. Ya'll are fucking.
That explains a lot. I looked at the wrap and the "podcast" and they reported different top songs. The podcast was actually closer to what I expected than my actual list.
I feel like they'll keep working on that, to try and make it safer or easier to use. I don't know if I'll be around to see it, but people are pretty clever.
I feel like they never ask "why." Pasteurizing doesn't just happen. They have to buy the equipment for it, etc. If they didn't have to do that why would they? Why wouldn't they have already come out with their line of "raw milk" if they could just do that?
I don't think his intentions matter at this point. People have already made him a folk hero. He could say he shot him because he stepped on his shoe and there's a good chance people will still say, "Valid, fuck that guy."
No, never. Not against it, but I live alone and my family was never big in holidays after I stopped being a kid. I would just be doing it for myself and I don't care enough.
Where do people dance?
I was scrolling and saw this video of people dancing, showing different moves throughout the years, including recent ones. I know people "dance," like, generally move to a beat, but, like, having moves and stuff, where do you do that? Is the idea to ease the moves into your own dance "repertoire?" As in, do you expect to see people milly rock, like unprompted?
Could Linux save my laptop?
This past weekend, my laptop decided it's had enough and has given me the blue screen of death. I've put it in recovery mode, tried to reinstall windows, the works, and it refuses. I have no idea why. I was logged on, looking something up, and it went kaput. I wasn't downloading anything, the computer was in it's sleeve prior, not too wet, cold, hot, etc. Battery is fine, the laptop it's self is maybe two years old.
My understanding is that Linux is a kind of system that you download the components to a USB or what not and then install it on your machine. Is that something I could do in this case? Or do I need to take it somewhere?
Edit: it seems I may have to check if it's a hardware problem. The error code is Bad_system_config_info, but it changed to something else at one point but I didn't write that one down. :(
Would it be weird if I took something my neighbor put out for trash?
They put out this shelf and I want it, but I don't want to seem strange? It would make a nice plant shelf, but it's not something I can scurry away with, so people would see me while I carried it. Is that a bad thing to do?
EDIT: Never mind. Someone beat me to it. 😭
Her first time seeing snow.
I adopted her when I was in the south west and she came with me to the east coat. That blur in the corner is my fat finger trying to take a picture.
Good PS5 controller?
I know it's a long shot, but are there any controllers that people could recommend? Both of my controllers went. One has a severe drift and the other one has unresponsive buttons (and I had gotten that one to deal with the drift of the first).
I was wondering if anyone knew of any sturdier brands?
"Fat" Finch disease.
I recently noticed a Finch that seems to be suffering from this, which really broke my heart. I looked it up and have taken down and washed the feeders. I'm posting to ask if chikadees can get this as well. I've looked all over but they mostly mention doves and so forth. Some of the chikadees still visit to see if the feeder is back, and I can't tell if one is just fat or if she's sick. I know I wouldn't be able to do anything, but I'd like to know if I should be looking at them as carriers as well.
How do you drive in Cyberpunk???
I feel like I'm driving in an ice level and the game keeps telling my car is gonna explode. 😭
