In his address to Congress, President Trump ignored the concerns of working people and boasted about his billionaire-run government. In a response, Bernie Sanders says while the fight for a progressive future may feel hopeless, “despair is not an option.”
And tonight, Trump claimed that millions of dead people between the ages of 100 and 360 were collecting Social Security checks. That is an outrageous lie intended to lay the groundwork for cuts to Social Security and dismantling the most successful and popular government program in history.
That's the amazing thing human society. We all hold the power controlled by the few. Yet we all choose to believe that we can't do anything about it all.
It was the same in the beginning, it was the same in the ancient past, it's still the same today.
I have a huge respect for Bernie. During his first presidential run, he got many young people at the time (myself included) engaged politically and hopeful. I know he’s got lots of detractors, but frankly, lots of people online shit talk lots of things be it about politics or anything else, and typically don’t offer tangible solutions themselves.
A majority of Lemmy users here were the type of people that would complain about Bernie supporters hurting their preferred establishment candidate. Lemmy & Bluesky are the bubbles for the establishment.
As soon as the lib media machine kicks in, they absolutely will start going on about how unelectable popular left policies are and the only way to beat Trump pt III is to run a George W Bush/Liz Cheney ticket and you're a secret russian asset if you don't think we need someone more competent than Trump to secure our borders, fund the police, and bomb Iran.
Bernie "For 250 years, the United States has supported democracy. " is just as much part of the establishment.
They need these figures to keep voters from going to actual left 3rd parties.
Sad people fall for this BS after decades.
