Maybe if they did something about their porn bot problem I'd be happier to see this
1 0 ReplyI'll believe it when I see it
20 0 ReplyIs it still the same SJW hellhole it was a decade ago?
1 11 ReplyAs with the fediverse, there are a lot of user curated blacklists to get rid of the problem children.
Just don't trust shinigamieyes, that shit got taken over by terfs a few years back and now lists a lot of innocent trans bloggers.

It really would be so much easier to just boost Mastodon posts into a Lemmy community.
39 0 Replythat's crazy talk, next you'll be telling us we should be able to actually block people from seeing and interacting with our posts
20 0 ReplySay, are you saying that it's possible to take an existing Mastodon post, and post it into Lemmy? If so can you pliz point me to someplace that says how to do that? So far I've only seen this guide: https://anonsys.net/display/bf69967c-1467-8270-7e3d-48d984455929 and it only says how to crosspost a new Mastodon post, not an existing Mastodon post.
3 0 ReplyRight now, you can crosspost to a Friendica group by mentioning the group actor handle (ex:
@[email protected]
. And because Friendica supports quoted boosts, you can boost to a Friendica group through this method.Lemmy could easily support this feature.

Hopefully whenever mastodon gets quote posts we'll see something similar pop up over here.
5 0 ReplyYou don't need to wait on Mastodon to do it.
Obviously, I'm not talking about you specifically -- Threadiverse devs generally.
For example, some of this functionality already exists on Friendica.

I'm sure I've read this headline before and nothing came of it then.
24 0 ReplyWhy did you link to a Mastodon post and not the actual article?
16 1 ReplyThe article seems well-written, except that:
the fediverse — the open social web powered by the protocol ActivityPub also used by Mastodon, Threads, Flipboard, and others.
Seriously? Flipboard has like one thousand Monthly Active Users and we have like 50 times that, but we're like "and others" lel... I guess they didn't mention Pixelfed either tho and it's a lot "hotter"...

Can anyone eli5?
Will it federate with AP platforms?
4 0 ReplyGod I hope my instance defederates with them.
19 9 ReplyWhy? Tumblr is terrible, but in a good way.
49 1 ReplyBecause Automattic owns Tumblr and is run by a douchebag transphobe that is also destroying WordPress. (Though, to be fair WordPress is fucking trash)
5 0 ReplyTumblr is terrible
Stay terrible fam.

Instead of hoping your instance does something, just make your own instance. That's the whole idea.
10 0 ReplyYou could just block them yourself if you don't like leftist spaces that much
23 1 ReplyTumblr doesn't really strike me as leftist, so much as having a low signal:noise ratio

Neocities is Tumblr if it were worth anyone's time.
1 0 Replytumblr is life
5 1 ReplyAll of you who were making a fuss over Threads had better act the same way about this - after all, it's Verizon.
16 12 ReplyNo, Verizon does not own Tumblr. Verizon sold Tumblr to Automattic, the owner of WordPress.com, in August 2019
43 0 ReplyI don't understand the logic. Verizon buys tumblr, knowing it has porn, knowing porn is what makes it popular.
Kills porn.
Kills the valuation of the brand
Sells for far less than they bought it for.
Explain please.
21 0 ReplyGood ‘ol Cunnigham’s Law
17 0 ReplyOh. So it depends on your position on WPEngine instead.
