Yep, these people have "morals," if you can call them that, that are quite malleable. We're putting together a team of useful idiots who will be led by the most useful idiot of them all.
Y'all misunderstood, the accusations of sexual assault, drunkenness, and financial mismanagement were considered qualifications by this administration.
Any Republicans who "defected" did so in a calculated way. They didn't follow their moral compass or think it was the right thing to do, it was pure politics.
All 47 member of the Democratic Caucus voted against Hegseth. They were joined in their opposition by three Republicans: Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine.
Oh yeah, your life isn't actually that bad. At least not bad enough to throw it away to become some kind of martyr that will be forgotten after 3 months (how long has it been since that one guy shot a CEO? 2 months and almost completely out of the news cycle?)
The sad (SAD) truth is that people on the internet LOVE to convince themselves that they are oppressed. The "resistance" they claim they are putting up (which is really just posting the lamest takes on social media) gets their cortisol 'a-flowin!
In reality, they would NEVER give up their lifestyle to make any of the changes they claim they want to see. That is, unless they can whip up enough people to fill in the front line first, then they can continue their comfortable online "resistance" without any risk.
A woman accused Hegseth of raping her at a 2017 conference in Monterey, California, according to a police report unearthed by the Washington Post. No charges were filed, but Hegseth later paid the woman $50,000, according to written answers to questions Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) posed to the nominee.
In an affidavit submitted to the Senate on Tuesday, Hegseth’s former sister-in-law said that Hegseth was “abusive” towards his ex-wife, who had an escape plan involving texting a safe word to friends and family and, on at least one occasion, hid in her closet out of fear.
The problem is you're framing the accusations as if they're just accusations without proof when they're not. Regardless of that, in a plainly misogynistic move, you're also assuming the women aren't being truthful.
It only makes the Dems "hurt more" if you're viewing it through that prism. In reality, where this shit is fucked up and is happening, the GOP is confirming a terrible person. Confirmations used to be largely bipartisan and mostly a walk through, now one party just ignores the other because the moral compass is so far apart compromise is impossible. You can't compromise with amoral fascist lovers. So yeah of course none of the Dems voted for him.
