Still too much in Australia. Sorry, want to support the work like on Sync for Reddit. But this app doesn't even have functionality to post yet and is $25 to remove ads. It just doesn't feel right considering it's the fediverse and there are no ads at the source.
I know you need to make a living. So you do what you need to.
Similar feedback from NZ. $28 NZD to remove ads... I think I paid around $5 for Sync for Reddit premium. I know that was a while ago, but $28 would be the most expensive app purchase I've ever made by a long way. In fact it'd be the most expensive software purchase of any kind that I've made in years. I'd love to support and this would normally be an easy decision for me, but given that Lemmy itself is still finding its feet I just can't justify it.
Agree that it's your livelihood and your price to set 100%, just thought some feedback that this particular localised price is steep might be useful.
Yeah I noticed it had been changed. My feedback is that it's still too high. Sorry. The app is still in beta and missing major functionality. I think you may also need to look at some competitors as I haven't seen any priced like Sync and some are actually pretty damn good. I'm really enjoying Voyager for example.
I totally understand you need to make a living, but this isn't Reddit. And I'd rather put some of my money towards supporting the instances I use, rather than just in the app I use to access them.
I'm sure you're gonna do fine. You've got a great app and plenty of support. Just wanted to provide some honest feedback.
I believe the point he is making is the app is quite expensive even after adjustments. Compared indie games you are 33% more expensive than Hollow Knight. Only for ad removal.
Thank you LJ, I purchased instantly. I really appreciate your work and understand this app is your livelihood but the original asking price was a number I wouldn't be comfortable spending, even deep inside knowing I would be getting my money's worth. Perhaps in installments would be fine, but yeah
Don't know if it's only the lifetime that was adjusted thought.
Keep up the amazing work LJ, the price adjust is just amazing, thanks for doing it. It was a little on the higher end here. Now it's fairly priced. Really appreciate it.
currently priced at $7 USD in my country which is really cheap!! expect a payment from me by the end of the month. Great job on the app!! really fluid and makes the whole lemmy experience amazing!! Thank you for your efforts man!
I think anyone will become poorer when they go to Switzerland. Why wait any longer. Taste you own medicine - becoming relatively poorer - by buying Sync at that price.
Yeah our prices in Sweden aren't close to what they need to be. Even if prices for lifetime Ultra were halved I would feel ripped off. Let's see what the other apps bring before we make a purchase.
Thank you Lj. The price for add-free in Malaysia currency is very reasonable for me. It's been reduced to 1/3 of previous price. Considering USD1.00-> MYR4.50, I think the reduction is roughly in proportion to currency rate. and the living cost in Malaysia. If you could reduce the price of Ultra in the same proportion as the add-free, I will most likely subscribe to Ultra. So I'll wait until you expand the pricing for Ultra before making my decision.
I would suggest (current Ultra price)/4.5 which is the currency rate wrt USD.
Super reasonable pricing in Sri Lanka. Will upgrade to Ultra Lifetime once (or if) you localise that. Keep being amazing and doing amazing work LJ! You rock.
It would take more than 6 years for life time to pay off, vs. yearly subscription (Norwegian pricing, assuming yearly sub remain the same). I feel like the future is too uncertain, in this space, to logically justify that commitment.
Without any insight into how likely people are to pay for stuff like this in Chile, I'd say the price is a bit low here considering it's a one time payment. I think you can go closer to 10000 CLP, though again I'm basing this only on how much I'd be willing to pay.
I have the same thought about the price in India. Just ₹200 for the ad free option seems lower than he needs to be. He can increase the price by 50-100% and be low enough that people who were ready to buy at ₹200 will still buy it
Lifetime Sync for reddit pro was 3€, sync for Lemmy is 114€. With that hefty price tag, you might as well just pay for the reddit api calls... This price is borderline insane.
I have a system wide android ad blocker but I always pay for apps to support the developers, but this... nope.
Maybe someone can help me. I used to live in dubai but now live in India but still have all my Google play pricing in uae dirhams. How do i localise it to my current permanent home - India?
One other simple way is to open a new Google account by using new email and associate it with your bank account in India. You can have more than one accounts in concurrent. Then, you can install the app using the new Google account. That way, you won't lose your dubai account which might have certain regional benefit.
If your new installed app is still associated to UAE account, even though you install it through the new account, you need to install it through browser (not through Google Play app). Uninstall current app, and then sign in to Google Play with the new account through the Web browser. Install the lemmy app through there. The new install app should be associated to the new account.
OP will lose his UAE localized benefit if he do that - something I won't suggest. I would suggest to just open a new account as we can have more than one concurrent accounts. That's how I did it so I currently still keep my old account. I post on this in the same comment thread.
Hi LJ, thanks a lot for the adjustments! I hope you'll also reduce the price of lifetime Ultra for Indonesia. Currently it's set at IDR 1.56mio, while the minimum wage in the capital city is at IDR 4.5mio, and most cities are at IDR 2mio. I've been a Reddit Sync user since 2014 so I definitely want to support you as much as possible, but unfortunately the price is prohibitively expensive.
Hey a while back I paid for the app but Google sent a refund a couple days later. Not sure why. Should I try to "remove ads" again?
Not sure if it matters but I've not once seen an ad on the app and I had previously purchased ad free sync for reddit. Also my phone is pretty old. Not sure if any of that is related to the refund?
While I wil never subscribe to any app as a matter of principle, ultra is a completely voluntary extra. The app has most functionality implemented already, and all lemmy functions have been said to be planned as part of the base app.
There is no membership required to use the app. Even the subscription isn't required
I gladly paid for mine, as I did with Sync for Reddit before. Got extreme value out of this, will get extreme value out of the 20 € I paid here. So, yes. "Memberships". If they are worth the price.
