What are your favorite examples of German words making it into English?
  • My friend in Australia is a doctor studying psychiatry and he kept asking me what certain worlds meant and half the time I had no idea what they were or how to explain them lol.

Very random. Here's a wiki list but I remember there were some others too

    Anwesenheit

    Dermatozoenwahn

    Entgleisen

    Gedankenlautwerden

    Mitgehen

    Mitmachen

    Pfropfschizophrenie

    Schnauzkrampf

    Wahneinfall

    Verstimmung

    vorbeigehen; vorbeireden

    Witzelsucht

    Würgstimme

    Word salad/Wortsalat

    Zeitraffer

    Zeitlupenwahrnehmung

It's kind of interesting to see the long lasting effect of Germans pioneering the medical field for a very brief time in history.

  • Youtube Premium
  • Or you simply don't pay anything at all for either service by downloading add-ons that unlock Premium

xManager & Revanced on Android, literally the only reasons (+ Stremio) I will never buy an iPhone as long as these services exist. You save hundreds of dollars every year. Revanced has more options than YouTube Premium too, like automatically skipping sponsor sections.

  • Federal agents found more than two dozen minors working in Ohio poultry plant
  • We've had the same issue of modern slavery in Germany for over 10 years since Romania has become part of the EU. People working 12 hour shifts 6 days a week while barely earning 200€ and being forced to live with multiple people in one bed(!) or even sleeping in tents near the factories. Most of these people are young men brought to Germany under the impression that they will have a better life but ending up in a vicious cycle and are unable to escape because their managers will take away their passports upon arrival

  • Superiority brings controversy
  • That's because windows is closed source, duh. The beauty of Android is that you have the option to flash the version you want. You just choose to stick with the worst out of all Android versions and then complain about it lol

You're like a boomer complaining about Internet Explorer being slow

  • How many people live in their own property?
  • One of the major reasons that no one seems to mention is that renter's are well protected by right's and are nearly impossible to kick out. Rental contracts are usually signed without any expiry on the lease and agents are only allowed to raise rental prices every few years. People are expected to live in their rental for decades, to the point where rentals come without kitchens because people are expected to buy their own and use it for 20 years

  • Superiority brings controversy
  • You don't get it. Samsung modifies Android to the extent that it's barely recognisable anymore. If you want to experience a pure Android experience, get a Google Pixel or flash your own ROM

Samsung's software is garbage and the main reason I will never buy their phones no matter how great their hardware is

  • Why is it such a pain to watch AppleTV+ on PC/ Non-Apple devices?

I understand they want to push hardware sales, but surely they are also interested in gaining more subscribers?

Because as much of a die-hard Android user I am, I'm actually still impressed with AppleTV+ as a steaming platform and the consistent quality of its shows.

But not having a dedicated app/dealing with buffering/not being able to download feels like I'm back in 2005
