Check out “station eleven” — a show set in a post-apocalyptic world but isn’t like any show you’ve ever watched in any genre. Only one season long and doesn’t end on a cliffhanger or anything, just a nice contained story
I've started listing a few CBC gem shows I'd like to watch (though I don't really watch much tv so it may take me some time.) Anyway, from my list there are a couple that might fit the bill:
Been watching a lot of news from multiple sources lately and the CBC coverage is SO GOOD compared to its US counterparts. Another amazing source I rely on every day is TVO. Steve Paiken is a god. The interviews and panels are like being in the company of adults after running a day care all day.
They have outlets that are held out as more or less serious than others, but outside of PBS, it's all a mess of news, opinion, delusion, and propaganda.
PS: Oh, and drug advertisements for the domestic audience
The CBC is the only large news organization in Canada that isn't owned by foreign fascist placating billionaires and spreading anti-Canadian fascist propaganda. They can't control it so they want to kill it. Save the CBC.
As a neighbor down south, I read PP as planned parenthood. I know that's not the case but I looked at ddg for Canada pp and that's what I found. I'm really not trying to be dense but I would like clarification (because I'm a certified dumbass and don't get nuance or hints at times)
CBC are currently hiring 30 journalists across the country. I hope this means we wean ourselves off cheap US news and start investing in our own damn countries news, weather and culture. Given the US is repeatedly expressing their desire to violently annex us, investing in our own news seems like a no brainer. But also fuck the CPC who want to defund it and increase the flow of invader news media into Canada.
The CPC in all its forms have hated the CBC because they point out what the parties are doing wrong/scandals. The CPC does not like light on their actions, they feel targeted
god I hate how neoliberals write stuff like this. The entire press release says nothing functional, except "the cbc is important" and then some easily fluffed assertions about what their plan 'would do'. It's really clearly written to avoid anything too committal.
The CBC came out already saying they want to see their funding doubled so they can provide even more journalism and provide CBC gems ith no ads without the paid option.
It's atrocious how US owned media has turned Canadians against a home-grown news organization. I'm not saying the CBC is perfect but they are important.
