When Bill Clinton came to Washington as president, his Democratic administration used corporate know-how and the new internet to streamline the federal bureaucracy as part of the “Reinventing Government” push.
I'm no Clinton apologist but these two scenarios are not even remotely similar and god damn I'm tired our media trying to convince us that everything is fine.
The progressive wing is getting organized. The centrist wing is like "look! We can gut services people rely on too, only we do it right! Please like us!"
Who was that idiot from back in September / October who would post a bunch of articles, then just reply, "I don't have to explain myself to you" any time anyone asked them questions? The guy that got suspended until after the election and just never showed up again?
I don't know what that means, I haven't been banned from anywhere on Lemmy. And since I am obviously here talking to you right now, seems like your "never showed up again" logic would make no sense in that scenario anyway.
Yep. What Clinton did was reasonable and highly effective. Part of the reason Clinton was able to balance the budget and leave office with projected budget surpluses - that Gee Dubya pissed away in tax cuts for the rich. Nothing like the slash and burn process Musk is using.
Clinton has his issues, but his approach was effective. I kinda wish Democrats would take a page from Clinton and offer alternative (read: reasonable, effective, and legal) ways to bring improvements to different agencies.
