Why would they give a shit? They get paid to do nothing. All they have to do is let Elon and Trump do whatever the fuck they want and they get to insider trade and suck on the teat of the taxpayer all while getting the best healthcare in the country for free for life. Our system of governing is a joke.
- Which will work fine until they are no longer needed. Once they've given all their power to the fascists, they'll suddenly find themselves very much redundant.

They have always wanted to break the government. They are okay with what's happening, they knew it was going to happen, and they wanted to continue.
republicans want an oligarchy
- they'll get cast aside soon enough.. the new emperor doesn't need a congress.. or a legislative branch of government.
  
  I think they'll be kept around for the appearance of democracy. I recently learned that even North Korea maintains opposition parties, which of course have no power.

Kind of like what happened after the initial violence in the fall of the roman republic. It started with sword point power grabs, but as time went on, they stopped ever trying to get any power back into the senate, and eventually bled out so much power that we don't even know when the last meeting was. They just became so irrelevant.
