One of the best parts of my Linux desktop is its lack of agency. It does what I tell it to do, and it doesn’t do what I don’t tell it to do.
I could even just use it forever, as is, making no updates or changes and it would continue to behave in exactly the same way until such point as I decide to install an update or make a change.
It’s marvelous.
EDIT: I see this is a Windows community, so I would like to add an addendum to make my comment relevant to Windows. I would appreciate Windows much more on my work machine if it only did what I asked it to do and nothing else.
I'll switch when my games actually work.
Haven't been able to host LAN games or emulators (via ZeroTier and XlinkKai) and some games actuality work on my pc (tModLoader does crazy things with the light and DRG won't even open).
Also MPV is a bitch to setup, it's not exactly hard but it's annoying and having to go through a full wiki just for basic configuration is not exactly userfriendly.
It really depends. I game a ton, and Proton works for all the games I usually play. However, I know there are games especially multiplayer online games that still have issues.
