OBS can do this kind of recording? I use it myself, but afaik it just records when and what you tell it; if you don't turn it on in advance, you can't just clip the last few seconds.
Fucking finally. A simple alternative to shadow play. OBS is great but it's a bit overkill if all I want is a 30 second clip of a cool moment to share on discord.
Sounds cool, though that's probably the most generic name I've ever seen before 'Game Recording' (though it is pretty clear what it is). Call it something short and hip like, Steam Jetz or some shit.
Whatever their reasoning, I honestly think I'd rather have a simple, intuitive name over a Gamer™ one. Preferences apply, of course, but I often find the latter cringe-worthy.
A. Plenty of programs are constantly caching, wiping, and recaching data. You're acting like shadowplay and other programs dont already have modes which do a rolling write on your SSD. And to be clear, this isnt something you really need to worry about with most modern SSDs from reliable brands. If you have an ADATA, maybe dont use it.
B. What about the steam mobile app is broken? Genuinely curious.

Not really, or in the kilobytes at best.

Shadowplay isn't a thing on AMD nor Linux, so no.

Every SSD has limited write cycles, no matter how good it is. I spent a good amount of money on my Samsung SSDs, that doesn't mean I'm not going to conserve their lifespan with useless "features".

Everything. The whole entire app. It's not starting and just shows a grey screen. Which means you can't access your 2 factor either. It's already down to a 2.5 rating on the app store.
I'm sorry, but OBS is the gold standard, at least to me. I've no expectations that Valve will take its position... But they don't need to. Thing is, for a lot of people, a simple GUI to clip and share gaming moments, especially without having to install and learn how to use new software, sounds great.
Plus, I think it's safe to assume Linux support is a target. I like it.
