apologies for not ignoring, but i must mention this works on Jerboa!

  It worked for me on Jerboa after I enabled 'Auto play gif' setting, and then closing and reopening Jerboa.

  Odd, mine is just the static image. I'm on boost paid version on a note 10+ dunno if that has anything to do with it.

Can't see the image, but that can be for lots of reasons.

failed, qutebrowser (uses qtmultimedia which depends on gstreamer, maybe missing compilation option and/or gstreamer package?) on OpenBSD
Jerboa Android works but stops playing when the screen stops moving (scrolling)
