My mother used to peel apples and potatoes this way. It's rather more wasteful than using an actual peeler. I like the kind where you jam it on there and spin the crank and it turns the skin into a spiral ribbon.
- Unfortunately the skin is too thick to use a peeler. It has a rind similar to watermelon.
