Last raised bed planted! Still need to plant flowers though.
In this bed we have basically a remainder of seeds from the other ones, not gonna be able to rotate the beds like I originally planned, but oh well.
So on the left we have rutabaga and parsnips planted between rows of sunflowers and catnip.
In the right we have kale, arugula and lettuce, between those rows are carrots and radishes. Theres also an entire row of marigolds on the left side of this.
In the middle… is… carrots! Didn’t even have anymore lettuce or radishes to plant with them even.
Next year I’ll start more stuff inside properly so not wasting as many seeds scatter planting stuff stuff like lettuce.
Thanks! Appreciate it! I hate how short our spring is so it’s always a mad push.
This morning there was frost, and tomorrow is supposed to be above 20c, so the brassicas are at risk of bolting and they aren’t even supposed to be planted yet…. Makes stuff interesting for sure haha.
Thanks growmie, starting to regret it though, need to take the next week easy. Still a month out for my steroid shot, and when the painkillers wear off I’m feeling it now.
Good news is, garden is planted, so not as much of a rush. Some of the landscaping didn’t need to be done, but then I’m not dropping stuff on seedlings as well, so just better to be done it.
Just so much going on, hard to not bust your ass when you have time, even though you should still pace yourself.
Yeah, dude. Gotta kick your feet up. I did a french drain over two days last week. Starting eating ibuprofen just to keep my hands from swelling up. Your shit can knit itself back together, but not without a nap. You cleared a milestone. Don't let the fidget drive!
Very nice! What type of wood did you go with? I'm really wondering if I should just go with wood if/when my janky (but cheap!) beds start to fall apart.
Brown pressure treated wood. Cedar is nice but pricey, and there’s a few pressure treated color options now as well. The wood under the new boards is the same stuff, just a few years old now. Deck is the same stuff too.
There is some risk of chemical leakage from the wood potentially, but the stuff I was reading was about older more dangerous treatment chemicals.
