Lemm.ee is a bunch of new admins, so it's not longer as friendly to differing opinions as it once was.
Which a bunch of Lemmy Democrats are gonna cheer and advertise about.
Probably a good idea for us to find a new conservative community.
Don't let them silence you, guys. We should just move--not run away. Running away is what they want us to do.
EDIT: I'm not defending Nazi's or Nazi salutes. I didn't see the post and I haven't seen any describe it other than "it was a Nazi salute!" Does anyone want to actually describe the post? What did it say? Was it a meme? Was it Musk? Was it a random pic?
The fact that, upon learning literal Nazism is the reason behind this, you turn around and say, "Now hold on, let's get the facts, good people on both sides, let's find a new place, blah blah blah," kinda tells the whole story.
I guess the bigger question you should be asking yourself is why Nazis keep showing up in the conservative movement. Why conservative leaders court them for votes. Why conservative leaders are performing Nazi salutes at presidential inaugurations.
The only person who was banned is the one who posted the Nazi salute picture.
Lemm.ee is a bunch of new admins, so it’s not longer as friendly to differing opinions as it once was.
Lemm.ee has a single new admin (JuiceMachine). The rest of us have been here for over a year and the decision to de-mod this community is not a new idea. We are not removing the community at this time, we just feel it has not been effectively moderated to fit in with Lemm.ee's rules. We want to observe how things go and take further action if needed.

But that seems counter to what was said by a lemm.ee admin just three months ago. They seemed fine with the mods then. In fact, they said, "We have in the past had to shut down a few conservative-type communities over such things. Having said that, I am not aware of the current moderators of that community allowing, much less featuring, any kind of bigotry (in fact, a quick look over the mod log shows them actively removing bigotry, usually posted by users from outside lemm.ee)."
So will you keep it unmodded? Because that seems like a worse idea. Your community, your rules, but I'm just wondering about the thoughts behind leaving a "controversial" community unmodded.
And the person who posted the Nazi salute pic is not the only person to be banned on Lemm.ee lately.
So are you telling me that lemm.ee has NOT changed it's attitudes towards banning and what it allows on here in the last few months?
I'm not implying you are wrong, I would like qualification. Because I have seen other peopel say the same thing to. There seems to be a much lower tolerance lately.
But to you knowledge, no meetings, no talks, or anything of the sort about reigning people in a bit more? Nothing about outside instances pressuring you?

"Unmodded" might not be the right word. To clarify, there will be no "community moderators", but we the admin team will keep an eye on it for the time being. We feel that there was an issue with reports from the queue being resolved by mods, but with no action taken against unacceptable content. It made it sort of a blind spot for us, hence the Nazi salute celebration hitting the front page of the community for 2 days.

Lemm.ee is growing pretty quickly and people get banned every day - the modlog is public. A recent uptick is possible, but our admin activity can fluctuate pretty sporadically depending on IRL stuff. Any instances of unacceptable content are due to blind spots as stated above, or us simply not having had the time or resources to effectively handle everything.
Hey, I can agree with that line of thought. I'm all for you blocking whoever you want. I'm not for BANNING them because they aren't part of the majority on Lemmy.
No, I already know how much Lemmy hates differing opinions. I just won't post to that community. I found plenty of other communities to post to. It's no loss to me.
Yes, "do brown people deserve human rights" is just a "differing opinion" like if you like onions on your hot dog. Obviously a very intellectually honest term for the issue at hand.
My favorite part might be that every comment wintermute ever left is GONE. Maybe it was a personal choice, maybe his tail is between his legs and he ran. Either way, Lemmy is a better place now. Thank you admins!
I mean I know you guys love playing victim, but holy shit.
Probably a good idea for us to find a new conservative community.
Yeah, you should probably leave. There are multiple racist cesspool social media platforms you'd feel at home with. Hell, one is run by the President and another is run by the de facto President. Plus, you guys have the largest fake news cable network in the nation. Why are you feeling so persecuted? Oh right, that whole victim complex you guys got going on.
I mean, come on. Your daddy is in. He's here with his "concepts of plans" to deconstruct our federal government and re-organize it to empower our oligarchs and erase the middle class. You should be happy. You're on top of the world right now. Well, the oligarchs are. You're just kind of rooting for them from the gutter. A cheerleader of sorts.
Running away is what they want us to do.
No, it's just what you're good at. Stay cucked out there.
Ok. No one cares if you stay or leave. We're just trying to get you to stop crying. You're just upset that this isn't like /r/conservative where only flaired and vetted conservative users can post along party lines. You're not used to getting pushback in a conservative space and you're having a little freakout over it.
I’m not. We actually won the election.
Then why are you crying?
I also fully expect to be banned for saying that
No one's banning you. You just like playing victim.
I also said they were delicate. They spread misinformation, refuse to engage in good faith discussion, and remove comments they don't agree with. They are trolls.
Of course you would. I am totally aware that you all want this to be an echo-chamber with no diversity of opinion.
But that's exactly why you lost the election AND why you all were so surprised that you lost. Because you refuse to pay any attetion to anyone who disagrees with you.
We're not going anywhere. Maybe a new instance, but Lemmy is going to have conservatives on it. Accept it.
You misunderstood, I've never wanted this to be an echo chamber. I came here looking for conversations but found that the echo chamber was already well established. I want the echo chamber and it's supporters to fuck ALL the way off.
Please find a post anywhere in this community with a diverse opinion, god knows you never posted anything that tried to pop the bubble. It's boot licking and cruelty all the way down.
Nobody has a problem with Conservatism, it's the people actively supporting Nazis that don't deserve a place. You didn't vote for someone that's currently supporting nazis, by any chance, did you?
But that’s exactly why you lost the election AND why you all were so surprised that you lost. Because you refuse to pay any attetion to anyone who disagrees with you.
We lost because the Republican party is REALLY good at running fear-based disinformation campaigns and a lot of Americans are not very smart and easily influenced.
We’re not going anywhere.
Buddy, unless you're extremely wealthy, we're all going the same place together, which is down. We can hold hands if you want.
Wow, RIP that community then. Anybody know of a good alternative? I run [email protected] but the purpose of that community is strictly videos. In many cases when I see censorship in communities I make communities, but I generally don't like making ideologically tilted communities unless the content I would post literally wouldn't fit anywhere else (I did make [email protected] for heavily biased or opinion articles, but they can be either left leaning or right leaning).
I'm not a conservative but I would love to see people with opinions other than comically far left have somewhere to call home.
I joined world because I didn't really know what Lemmy was and I was just "trying it out" after I got banned from all of reddit across all my accounts (they never told me why and instantly denied my appeal).
If a more open minded instance pops up or you create it let me know.
.world is definitely not an open-minded one, in my opinion.
In my opinion, the most open minded one so far is sh.itjust.works.
But I will admit I haven't visited all of the Lemmy's. Lemm.ee USED to be one of the more openminded ones, but something has changed lately. They def try to shut down disenting voices now. Not sure if they got pressured into it or what happened. But a change started 2 or 3 weeks ago.
