I agree with both you and the meme. You're right that everyone should have sucked it up and voted for Kamala anyway. The meme is right because the Dems fucked this royally at several stages. I mean I lived through it. It's also to be seen on the Wikipedia page. Initially Buttigieg was doing really well, but "for some reason" dropped out and endorsed Biden. Later on, just before the super Tuesday, also Warren and Bloomberg dropped out and endorsed Biden.
At that time it felt more dramatic (probably because media was very anti-Bernie), which is not visible in the statistics.
