What to do with an acre of grass
  • I would do this, specifically for pollinators (i.e. honeybees, hummingbirds, butterflies, bats). They co-habitate fairly well and vertebrate pollinators help keep insect pest populations under control.

A nice bonus would be to add a sizeable water feature to encourage dragonfly growth. Of course, this all depends on the geography.

  • the Zelda material is super sad for me as well because my late baby sister and I bonded tightly over the Zelda games

First off, I hope you have been able to find your solace. Losing family sucks, but when it's someone that close to you it frankly changes you. This internet stranger's heart is with you, FWIW.

My brother and I bonded over the Zelda franchise (specifically the OoT/MM era, plus WW). We grew up rough, weren't sure if we would even make it to our thirties, and those adventure games helped us escape from some pretty crappy experiences. To us, it's more than a franchise: it's a culture.

Link is (usually) never the same character in the games; they're like reincarnations. Being a Link doesn't mean being one singular person. To me, being a Link means being steadfast, flexible, compassionate and, above all, adventurous. Things anyone can do/be, and that's why I think the Zelda franchise fosters some truly amazing gamers when they play those games. Although I do find myself regularly curbing the invasive thoughts to break people's pots... small price to pay!

I digress, the explosive prevalence of the Internet has led to printed walkthrough manuals being a thing of the Early Aughts. Ahh, it's great getting older!

  • This is something me and my brother always did whenever we collectively bought a new game for our N64/GameCube. I'll never forget snapping that shrink wrap off, popping open the case, and whiffing in the wood-pulpy smell of a freshly-printed, made-with-love Wind Waker manual. It was all ogre when we bought the walkthrough manual; not even my wife smells that good.

Or should I have mentioned Pokemon Stadium...?

  • Facts.
  • Cheese cloth works works amazingly well to wrap your leaves in, no cold press necessary!

  • Facts.
  • Raspberry leaf, hibiscus, and rosehips. Citrus peel instead of rosehips if you prefer a more fruity blend. Cold press with a teaspoon or two of wildflower honey, add a mint leaf for freshness and you have wonderfully refreshing summertime tea. Add boba for the kids and they don't mind the low sugar content!

    Cat tax:

  • What policy or program would you pay more taxes to support?
  • It's not so much about paying more, but rather directing where my taxes go. I already pay out the ass in taxes where I live, I'd just rather see my hard-earned income spent on public comprehensive healthcare... primary and undergrad education... automating as much production as possible... universal basic income.

Not blowing people up. Not digging for oil. Not bailing out corporations. And CERTAINLY not funding police with military surplus used to oppress and murder our very own citizens.

    Low-income therapy resources (USA)

Prefacing this by saying I live in the US, therefore the obvious answers do not apply.

So, obviously by posting here, I am a victim of child abuse. Physically, sexually, emotionally, the whole nine yards for 16 straight years. I haven't been able to secure a career because of my lack of structure, thus leaving me with no health insurance or significant income. I'm trying college again, so I'm only working part time. I've applied for my state's Medicare/Medicaid and they still wanted me to pay over $150 per month. Starting.

I need regular therapy, but it seems I just cannot afford it in any way. The most I can spend is like $60 a month on therapy if I prioritize it. Can't imagine many psychology graduates working for that low of pay.

Anyone know of low-income/uninsured avenues for a guy to talk with a professional?

    Yep. It's definitely Monday.

I can't seem to understand it. Day in and day out most of us wake up to clock-in for some bullshit product that creates waste and inflates the pockets of some bullshit board member? What the fuck is that? Don't give me the productive member of society rhetoric. How am I creating benefit to the world while simultaneously destroying it? You don't need that new model car. You don't need a smart-oven. Just like the livestock industry, we are born and urged to consume. We keep getting bigger, taller, stronger - but for what? We don't have any actual predatory threats except for ourselves, so why do we insist on strong-arming one another? The convenient excuse of the Human Condition? We developed critical intelligence and dextrous motor skills to engorge ourselves to extinction? Stupid. Stupid. STUPID.

Why does crunching imaginary numbers for a socially-engineered financial index get you "paid" more than feeding your local population, or delivering health-critical mail to someone's front door? Our existence collectively has placed our value in all the wrong places. I suppose Man's need to dominate all things prevails; our planet included. When will we stop raping our soil of cash crops to feed an industry that poisons our wells every day? There is no bastion for any precious material on Earth. Especially so for the hope of future generations.

The worst part? It's that I know I am part of the problem. I don't want to lose my comforts. So, I go back to my bullshit product and make wealth for some bullshit board member. This way, some day, I'll gain that 15% of my actual life to live with a neat variety of health issues to physically limit everything I've wanted to do in life before that moment. All the while, said board member will be able to replace internal organs in order to enjoy their sports yachts for much longer than I can even dream of.

Life is great. Thanks for listening.
