Yeah it's a tactical foul that gets you a yellow anywhere on the pitch, the referee spared him.

Netherlands played terrible. Greece had to win but played without any strikers? Referee was trying to be the star of the game and VAR was horrid. Lasers on the players from the stands, the pitch quality was a joke. Everything about this was horrible.

I agree to a point. This is only really a problem for the absolute top players. There's maybe 20-30 eredivisie players who always start, play in Europe and start for their country. The other 400-500 players or so could probably care less, their load is fine. Figures may be different in the PL or La Liga but it's still going to be a problem for a small percentage. So it will be difficult to get everyone to agree to this.

The rules are just a little confusing. At the end of the interference/impeding rule it says to call it as a foul. So it's both offside and a foul.

if the player moves into the way of an opponent and impedes the opponent’s progress (e.g. blocks the opponent), the offence should be penalised under Law 12
