Closing the thread, I've got a suggestion to kill myself on matrix, you're the worst
  • Not annoyed, but many other people understood what I meant, and your suspicion was not correct, although I really used name Wikipedia explicitly (also, the image is PNG, it has word Wikipedia, but Lemmy decided to not show it, but when I was attaching it, it was showing)

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • There are many tools for Linux that do a lot of different stuff

I remember there were some that allowed running games straight without steam and maybe even creating shortcuts, but any of those is a headache to setup, I mean, to run a game without steam you need to do 15 manual steps, to create a shortcut 30 manual steps

Edit: maybe something has changed, I don't use steam a lot, and I used those tools some years ago

P.s. the coolest tool for me is the app for extracting tye session with all those steam guard and etc

  • What to be aware of before opening port 25 on a postfix Raspberry Pi?
  • If you know how to set it up, RPI can be reliable enough

Even, IMAP is TCP already, any coming mail should be cached by the router until delivered, and your router usually doesn't loose connection as often as the connected devices

  • Authelia + Bitwarden + other selfhosted stuff
  • I didn't get it 😅

I see a big problem in every approach, probably because I don't understand something

When i'm using just bitwarden, all my passwords for every service are different, but the ui is opened for anyone to see

When I use authelia without oidc I add complexity of using the services, and probably two passwords to type manually, or a locked down system(which is cool)

And if I use authelia with oidc, it means I have only one password for all of the services (manual, or in bitwarden (which has its own manual password))

  • Authelia + Bitwarden + other selfhosted stuff
  • There's actually a point of doing that, it's called lock down, but how to explain users how to do this 😆

For bitwarden functionality there are bypass rules on just a nginx location, or network somebody is reaching through

In general the situation reminds me using selfhosted email as a contact email for that hosting 😁 but I think in this case it's less risk because I control the data

Edit: and I'm not really looking for user management, I just want to know how to use authelia efficiently

  • Authelia + Bitwarden + other selfhosted stuff
  • There's no registration in authelia I believe 🥲

And my problem is, like, should authelia password be manually typed, if not, where do the people store the password if they don't have bitwarden yet

  • Authelia + Bitwarden + other selfhosted stuff
  • where should be the main password, and what services do I bypass, and etc

And the most important, how do I explain people how to use it, do I create them authelia credentials and send, or how?

I mean, if it's that hard, I don't know how to help you

  • Signal requiring phone number, thoughts on anonymity?
  • This is way not cheap 😅😅😅😅

One of the main issues of jmp chat is the price

There are some VoIP services that are $20 a year, and I wanted to compare if there's anything interesting and cheap

  • Authelia + Bitwarden + other selfhosted stuff

Hi, recently I started using authelia, and can't understand how I need to use it, and how do I share it with others

Before I had bitwarden, kept all my passwords there, and used the passwords to login to every service. Also in every service I had 2FA and/or FIDO.

But now I have authelia, and I'm trying to understand where should be the main password, and what services do I bypass, and etc

And the most important, how do I explain people how to use it, do I create them authelia credentials and send, or how?

    Thank you

Tired of lame search engines? And don't have friends to share your instance?

My searx instance is down for a while, and I was forced to use and try all the search engines, all of them are really bad

You can set this as your default search engine and every use it will redirect you to a random searx instance

Finally got rid of telegram, congratulations to me

It was a many months transition, and it's finally done

Fun thing, you can actually make a backup of all* your messages, groups, contacts, etc. So before leaving you can have all of your data in case you need that one contact or something

The final red flag was as that allegedly Russian authorities were messing with people's deleted messages. Not for the first time there are news that they could read, modify, delete, see location, and etc. Screw it, this is unsafe, I'm out.

Also, these days telegram is really at the state of a pile of garbage, bloated, buggy, and shady messenger.

How easy to pirate and play Civilization VI

Hello, i'm a simple man, i enjoy playing only a few games, and one of them is civlization

I want to get a fixable* switch, fix* it as hard as possible to be able to play Civilization VI (and maybe skyrim?)

    My questions are:

    • Will i face any issues in particular about this game?

    • how long would the battery last

    • performance?

*(Fixable/fix, because all the switches are broken, they don't allow you to pirate out of the box😂)

External email server vs port forwarding/vpn

    Hey-ho 👋

What is the best approach for selfhosting an email server with static IP or blocked port 25?

I've done it many times in many different ways, now doing it again and want to hear what is the best approach these days

My port 25 isn't even probably blocked, I just prefer to use my vps to help it with this stuff

    Any suggestions?

Private and/or cheap places to register a domain

You have 5 seconds to answer 😃

I'm currently using namecheap to buy cheap domains, I know they are not necessarily cheap in long term, but first year + coupons make them almost free

But now I've got some domains I don't want to just use one year, and it gives pretty much a lot of issues with pricing and privacy

So please, people, share services you use, and tell me whether they are private and/or cheap and/or have all those countless generic domains and not just .com .org .net

European countries from privacy and freedom perspective

    Hey-ho, privacy enthusiasts

I'm currently traveling around the world, and thinking about staying in Europe for 5ish years

But i'm a tinfoil guy and aware of the "many eyed beast"

So, what do you think? All lies and everything is actually dystopian, or everything should be fine?

I'm actually thinking about 4 countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece (because don't like cold, and actually a little bit sick of other countries in the EU😅😅😅)

    Less than $4 per kilo

Accidentally stumbled upon this sub, cheap food is my craft

Sorry, i took the picture a little too late

I did some math, and home made sushi are 5-10x times cheaper than buying outside

[QUESTION] Cheese smeels and tastes weird before aging

Hi, i'm looking for a cheesemaking expertise

I started making fresh cheese not a long ago, and all of them turned good

But lately I'm trying to beat the Cheddar, and it's not really working

I failed my first try because of not enough weight + not small enough curd cubes + high humidity during drying (at the end the cheese got mold all over and inside without drying)

My second try went better, although the curd was a bit spongy and hard to press

    (15cm cheese) I did 8kg 12h, 18kg 24h, and around 100kg for 12h more

During this time I noticed that the cheese cloth started smelling weird, like alcohol/yeast, kinda buttery and woody

Now I'm done drying, and i'm tasting the cheese, and it's really not pleasant to eat, it's bitter and sourl, tastes just like spoiled milk

Should I continue and age it, or discard, or something?

    Thank you

    Planning to build mini-itx rig

Yellow, big brain PC users 🖖

I'm traveling and moving a lot for quite a while now, and getting a rig was never part of my plan

But recently I realized I can get a mini-itx and bring it anywhere I want

Looking for your advices and build configurations

I want it to be like top, but without it just be overpriced. I don't care for LEDs, as small and as powerful as possible, high-mini-atx-end 😄

    Thank yowoou

Quest 3. How do I get away from fb as much as possible?

Hi, not sure if anyone could see my message because i'm posting from lemmy

I'm thinking about getting a meta quest, but being a huge enemy of fb(sometimes I have fb blocked dns-wide), I don't really want persistence of fb on my quest 3

I hope I explained it well, I just woke up 😅 Thank you

Grocy: how to add bottles of oil?

Hi, I couldn't find a dedicated community for grocy

I'm very new to it, I figured out about most of the stuff, but this really makes me really confused

I have bottles of oil, like olive, sunflower, you know, and.. How do I add them? I know it's the same story with any weight product, I just started from liquids I already have parent products, I want to buy the oil in bottles, and quick use in ml, open in bottles, and maybe display total in liters, or in ml

Actually, doesn't matter about total, i'm stuck everywhere else, thank you 🫡
