Dustborn finally released on GOG (with achievements and DLCs)
Dustborn is a single-player, story-driven action-adventure game about hope, love, fri
For an indie game made by a small team, it had quite a number of GOG wishlist requests, and now it's out.
There's a lot of review bombing by people who don't own the game, likely coming from the likes of Kiwi Farms and 4chan waging their culture war.

Do not unsub. Mark as spam.
Why Not Both?
Email security and sanitation has been a huge part of my work for years.
There are a lot of "cool tips and tricks to minimize email spam" I've seen over the years. None of them ever seem to actually work. Same with phone spam. Everyone claims to have a magic bullet. I've yet to meet the person who can sincerely claim they don't get inundated with the shit one way or another.
The best tools for spam mitigation I've seen are
- Brand new account (email/phone number/etc)
- Service explicitly dedicated to doing the screening for you (Gmail has historically done an excellent job of keeping my Primary mail tab free of junk).
- Abandoning the service entirely
But after that... we have a team at our office who tries to do spam mitigation and its only gotten worse year over year. Went on vacation for a week and when I got back 2 out of 3 emails (for a company address I only use internally) were [EXTERNAL] spam messages.
What I wouldn't give for an administration that unleashed the fucking NSA on spammers.
@Sunshine A tool I find way too rarely mentioned in that context is
https://constexpr.org/innoextract/ - it allows to unpack the Windows and Linux installers from GoG without actually running them.
That's for instance relevant if you are on an ARM computer and don't want to bother installing box64 just to get a DOS game running.
I appreciate what Valve does for Linux gaming, but GOG gives me the freedom to use the client I prefer (Heroic, GOG Galaxy, Minigalaxy, …) or no client at all. When I buy a game, I receive a ZIP file with everything I need to run the game, without requiring an account or an internet connection. GOG Galaxy may only be available as a Windows executable, but I run it on Linux, and they allow me to do so, no questions asked.
@[email protected] Why the downvote? I've had nothing but nice things to say about Dustborn, I'm here helping you bring activity to your post......
If I were you, I would get something like Heroic to manage your games instead
From what I understand, you’ll still be owning your game on GOG the way you currently do, it’s mostly a new way to “consume” them. It does not feel like a regression to me, seems mostly to be opening to new possibilities.
I think you're correct with the first sentence, but on the second, I somewhat disagree. Strictly speaking, it's correct, yet it's not so new insofar as other platforms have done similar sorts of things, and with GOG I'd have hoped they might look into partnering with some software developers working on enabling local/self-hosted game streaming solutions more in the spirit of the DRM free approach.
Heroic with this enabled
@jugandoenlinux No es nativo. Dice la nota en los requisitos: "Requires Wine and dependencies, The Linux version comes with a 32-bit binary only. This is a Wine game and requires your local Wine package in order to play"
@Telodzrum good to know, but I tend to avoid games without native ports, as a matter of principle. No Tux No Bux.
Windows only? 8-(
@glimse (joking aside, I wasn't aware tags would come through this way, I'll be more considerate about this in the future).
(I'll fault lemmy for this though: it reinterprets the HTML as Markdown but then fails at rendering it in the title.)
@rikudou interesting, I actually have uBlock Origin *disabled* on GOG, and even disabled Privacy Badger to see if this was the issue (and reloaded after it). Despite this I see lots of warnings in console about cookies not having the correct CORS setting, so it might just be an issue with the more recent versions of Firefox being more strict in this regard. That's a good workaround to know until GOG fixes their side, though, thanks.
@glimse Glad to be of service
@hal_5700X It's always good to see games from other platforms come to other ones, have never finished the game myself but maybe one day I will sit down and play through the whole thing.
@iforgotmyinstance @cyborganism so it's basically Ultima Underworld II?
