Sad? Yes and no if you ask me. Sure, it is a shame that 3th party apps got killed and people are leaving Reddit. On the other hand, people join Lemmy and 3th party apps can switch to a new platform if they want to. The only loser is Reddit.
I would say, it’s less sad and more liberating to be honest with you. I’ll certainly continue to use Reddit in the long term, but it will be much more in frequently than it was in the past. Moving forward I think this is going to be the primary place where I spend my time. It’ll be cool to see it grow from what it was just a month ago.
More like 🤚 we don't want to be bombarded with what will be left of Reddit. Be bots and trolls. Maybe a few good people but I hope we keep up the vetting wall and not just letting people mass sign up.
Boost was probably my most used app on the phone. It was amazing and I'm a bit sad, that Ruben isn't going to make a Lemmy port anytime soon, if at all.
In the meantime check out Connect for Lemmy, Liftoff and wefwef. Absolutely amazing apps considering the early stage of development.

The dev for the reddit sync app has announced that he will be creating sync for Lemmy, so a huge userbase from that app has already or will be migrating over (including myself). There has been a lot of buzz in that community about Lemmy, including posting step by step guides to sign up for Lemmy and explaining the fediverse. With as polished as that app was, I'm excited to see how it transitions to Lemmy.
Thats what brought me here, I'm currently using connect which seems decent enough but if sync gets up and running I'll have to move back over for familiarity
Yeah, it's not yet got everything Reddit had but I've found a lot of great communities which are really enjoyable to participate in so I'm enjoying it more here
