In light of the proverbial hitting the fan over at #reddit I am considering giving @kbin or @lemmy a go.
In light of the proverbial hitting the fan over at #reddit I am considering giving @kbin or @lemmy a go. I think I can follow/interact with their communities from here? isn't that enabled with ActivityPub? if so, then that is fantastic :D
@bdonvr yeah I am thinking which interface would be the best for me to interact with both from. I wonder could I use my mastodon account to login to lemmy and then manage both from that UI? Would that be asking too much, I wonder?
@techcelt@kbin@lemmy I've been on @lemmy since the #spez fiasco and I'm telling you, it's the new front page of the Internet. No question. Federated media is what the internet was designed for.
Lemmy doesn't federate with Mastodon (yet), but I believe kbin can. Mastodon can federate with Lemmy and kbin. Unless you really like that Twitter style interface, I feel Lemmy or kbin offers a better experience. Lemmy and kbin use the Reddit style which I think is a better format, but that's also subjective. You can go to any kbin or Lemmy instance from your browser and take a look at it. You don't get all the features until you create an account and login, but you can get a good idea.
On Lemmy I can interact with posts that originate from Mastodon, but I can't connect to Mastodon and see new content there. That's something that will change as Lemmy features get deployed.
