they can't isolate every prisoner at the same time, and by engaging in a sit down strike, they can't fill those spots with people afraid to fight back.
That reminds me of the words of Jews during the lead up to WWII. No one wanted to be the first to die, so they all died. It's easy to say to sit down and protest when you're free.
Solitary is not 'being alone.' Solitary is being trapped in a tiny room for 23 hours a day with no stimulation, the lights never turn off, and you may not even be given a bed or a blanket. Solitary is torture. People need to know that.
