Do other people think "Tyrannosaurus!" soon as they read the name Mastodon?

And is it too much to ask the fediverse to contain a pterodactyl, triceratops, and saber tooth tiger themed apps?
Mastodon is an awesome name. Calling their tweets "toots" however...
9 0 ReplyFool! Doctor Doom toots as he pleases!
5 0 Replyit's lovely and whimsical! Much better than just "posts" which is what they've renamed them to :(
3 0 ReplyMaybe it's cultural but "toots" just make me think of farts.

All in all, the fediverse is a megazord
9 0 ReplyMastodons lived like 30 million years after dinosaurs...
8 0 ReplyAnd thus even the earliest mastodons lived closer to humans than to dinosaurs. The latest mastodons had the unfortunate fate of living together with humans.
5 0 ReplyAnd pterodactyls weren't dinosaurs. Pterodons were though....I think
1 0 ReplyNope, neither were, they're both flying reptiles in the Pterosaur clade. They did live alongside dinosaurs though.

This is definitely dating yourself... and me too.

I always pictured mastodons as Mammoths though I think they are shorter and have straighter tusks.
3 0 ReplyI think of the heavy metal band - maybe because I played a couple of their songs a lot in Rock Band.
3 0 ReplyI don't even listen to them and still this is the first thing I think of. (For as much metal as I do listen to, I'm not a fan of that growling/screaming vocal style.)

3 0 ReplyCONSTIPATED MONKEYZORD!
2 0 ReplyI know it's completely wrong but it makes me think of a shark. Like a megalodon I guess?
3 1 Replyno, i think of a weird-shaped elephant with ginormous tusks that curl almost into a circle
2 1 ReplySaber tooth tiger is the only thing on that list that actually makes sense thematically. Possibly one of the later Terror Birds would work as a theme though...
