Sign-ups are spiking again (somewhere on the Big Web enshittification is happening), so re-pinning this.
You are welcome to start a new post in this community to say "hello there" and/or ask any questions you may have. There are also links to other helpful communities in the sidebar.
Oh we are getting out the best China, the lace dollies and the cake stand (even if only for Jaffa Cakes). We're trying to make a good first impression.
Newcomers? Sorry I have been asleep for a few days.
We saw a noticeable uptick in sign-ups around Trump's inauguration (which was unexpected as we aren't exactly US focused) and, while it has settled down, we are getting more than we were getting before. So I've been talking to the other Admins about improving on-boarding and a welcome community seems a good idea. Only the other day we had someone post an introduction in a new community and have to be redirected, which wouldn't happen as much if we had a dedicated welcoming community and now we have.
I brought some marmite crumpets. They're a bit stale, since they've been in the fridge for a few days, but if you microwave them they should be okay. I brought enough to make a handful of people mildly happy, whilst distressing everyone else
Hi all, I'm new to feddit from Reddit as they are talking about putting up more paywalls for certain content/subs, so I am looking at other alternatives; I'm on iOS.
Is there a feddit that you can ask questions about Feddit, like r/NewToReddit
Is there a Feditt to ask if there are existing feddits, like r/findareddit?
Is there a Feddit to discuss Feddit Apps?
Can I edit/change my username?
Sorry for all the edits & questions, I'm like a kid in a sweatshop, this Voyager App is the closest U.I. to Apollo for Reddit & it feels like I'm using Apollo.
Just a note on terminology, but subreddits are called communities here (hence the c/ in the url), not feddits. Also, the software this place runs is called Lemmy, so most places discussing it will have Lemmy in the name not Feddit. For questions about here there's [email protected] or [email protected], but feel free to ask questions here or on [email protected] and people will normally be happy to help (including myself).

You can't change your username, but you have a setting called 'Display name' which can be changed and will be what shows up in most places, e.g. my username is flamingos but my display name is flamingos-cant which is the name you see.

I don't user Voyager myself, but I've heard it very good. Certainly can't go wrong with it.
I’ve brought some Hobnobs with Chocolate on…
Trying to curry favours with the admins I see. It's working.

As you are new you are welcome to ask here (you can start a new thread which would help get more focused advice) but, as well as flamingos' suggestions, I suppose [email protected] or [email protected] would work - they are general communities where folks can ask questions.
I think flamingos has covered the rest.

You'll fit in just fine.
edit: scratch that, just go with flamingos' suggestions which are now in the community sidebar.
This is not a support community.
It is not a place for ‘how do I?’, type questions. If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Repinning this as we've had a lot of new sign-ups because Reddit shat the bed again.
If you are new feel free to start a new thread in this community and say "hello", especially if you have questions as it'll be easier for everyone else to spot and chip in their twopenneth.
Let me throw in another one though, Penguins or Tim-Tams? This will get the sparks flying, especially if there are any secret Australians hanging about in the forum.
Ahoy-hoy. I'm quite partial to Nairn's gluten free chocolate chip biscuits myself. I'm not intolerant of much, including gluten, they just taste nice and make good dunkers.
