My reaction after reading the intro to the "highway driving" section of my local Driver Handbook

"Safer than ever" is a hilarious claim given that cars have a much higher death rate than any form of public transportation:

Why are so many people dying in trains every year?

Fun fact, the shinkansen(bullet train) in Japan has had no fatal crashes or derailments since its opening in 1964, and in case you forgot, Japan is constantly plagued by earthquakes.

The trains have anti earthquake systems where they do an emergency break in case one is about to hit. It's pretty genius.

It's a great point assuming you live somewhere that has highspeed rail.

I’d love one, but my SUV-owning neighbors don’t want it in their backyards.
- I'm certain a large portion of the city would have to be demolished to build a high speed rail here.
