The Ohio senator is now the most unpopular vice presidential nominee in modern history, according to FiveThirtyEight’s polling tracker.
I read a comment from some article somewhere and the quote was that “JD is the Dan Quayle of Sarah Palin’s”.
(There's no apostrophe in a non-possessive plural noun)

In all seriousness though, Vance is the scapegoat for how abysmally inadequate the nominee is. Never before has a candidate been so horribly inept and disappointing, so supporters were hoping for a perfect running-mate to pick up the slack.
