Mattel is changing some of your favorite games, like Uno and Phase 10, to make them more inclusive. Here's how.

This is the way to do it. I’m glad to see more video games including color blindness modes but a lot of them do it in a way that I still can’t differentiate or match what I need to. Having symbols and patterns as well makes a huge difference for me. Everyone’s colorblindness is a little different, so there’s no color scheme to suit everyone. I hope other game makes take a cue from this move.
It said the move is a step in its "commitment to create more inclusive play experiences," "break down barriers to game play and help advance awareness of those affected by colorblindness."
Translation: Sell to more customers.
Ah yes, the giant untapped market: Colorblind people, making up a solid 5% of the populace.
This is the rare time capitalism breeds good innovation. The right thing for the wrong reasons is still the right thing.
I mean, yes. A game that’s enjoyable by more people should have wider appeal.
It’s nice this greed has a side effect of allowing more people to play.
