L’abstention a battu son précédent record en Belgique. Plus de 1.050.000 électeurs (soit 12,5 % du corps électoral) ont en effet boudé les urnes dimanche, soit 100.000 de plus qu’en 2019. Ces abstentionnistes représentent ainsi virtuellement le deuxième parti du pays, pas très loin derrière la N-VA et son 1,165 million d’électeurs. Le vote est obligatoire en Belgique. L’abstention est théoriquement passible d’amendes, mais les poursuites sont toutefois rarissimes, les parquets ayant d’autres priorités.
