The party can vote to exempt a candidate, but it so far appears to be following the rule.
I'm guessing they'll be changing that rule or exempting him in the near future.

They don't need to change the rule, they can just exempt him.
They can just ignore it all together. It's not like they care about the law.

It doesn’t really matter. Vermont has cast all three votes for the Democratic nominee since 1992.

It matters. Any vote for this felon is a vote to dismantle the United States.
The votes that count in a presidential election are the Electoral College votes. Citizen votes are considered recommendation to the Electoral College. Vermont uses “winner-take-all,” so they haven’t cast a single vote for a Republican presidential candidate in over 30 years.
I don’t like the system myself. If you don’t either, there’s something you can do about it. If your state hasn’t signed the National Popular Vote bill, write your state legislators and ask them to sign, and encourage others to do the same.
